Ezra
Slamming the door shut, I peel off my coat and throw it on the sofa. Slipping off my worn trainers and heading to the fridge pulling a beer out and opening it.
A knock at the door makes me cringe. Walking over and looking out the peep hole I see my landlord. Resting my head against the door I hear another knock.
"Ezra I know you are in there" I sigh before pulling open the door.
"Hi" he looks at me before crossing his arms.
"Your rent is late, again" I shift in my place. I hated him. He was always rude.
"Yeah I know, I just need a little time" I look up at him with pleading eyes. Him however stood with a scowl as if he had just been told off
"I'm working 2 jobs, barely making ends meet. I just need a little time" he sighs before standing up straight.
"Please" he started shaking his head.
"You have 24 hours or your out" looking at the floor. I couldn't get it in time.
"I guess I'll start packing" he nods before leaving.
"Asshole!" I slam the door and turn to my apartment. This was one of the only places that has been home to me for the past 2 and a half years. This is where I spend everyday.
"Shit" placing a hand to my head I start pacing. What am I going to do?
Grabbing my purse I head for the door. I need something stronger than fucking beer.
After grabbing a bottle of Vodka I head to the alleyway beside my apartment.
"How has it come to this" resting my head against the cold bricks I sigh before the tears start stinging my eyes.
Heading back into the apartment closing the door I slide my back down the door looking at everything that I own.
"What are you doing?" I whisper to myself. Wiping the tears that have left my eyes.
Shaking off the tears and sadness I start packing what little things I have into my suitcase. This place was my safe haven. No one knew where I stayed. No one could find me. I was basically under the radar to anyone.
Packing up the final few things I zip up my suitcase and grab my coat, Pulling it on and zipping it up.
Locking the door behind me and posting it through the letterbox I head down the steps and back into the cold New York.
Walking down the streets of New York was something that I never got tired of. They were never ending and there was always something new to see.
After what felt like hours of walking the bottle of vodka was nearing empty and the cold no longer bothered me.
I stop and look at the building before me.
The avengers compound.
I had been walking for so long I didn't even realise I had walked this far and to this building without realising it.
Looking up at the building I sigh. He's so close.
"Can I help you?" I snap out of my thoughts turning to a tall blonde man clad in a pair of jeans and warm coat.
"I'm, y-yeah. I'm looking for Tony Stark" he looks at me for a few seconds. A unsure look covering his features.
"He's not here at the moment" of course he isn't.
The blonde man stretched out his hand I take it shaking.
"God your freezing. Do you want to come inside?" I shake my head no.
"It's fine, do you know when he will be back?" He shakes his head before stepping back a little.
"I'm not sure, I'm Steve Rogers by the way" I nod my head. Of course I knew who he was. He was bloody captain America.
"I'm Ezra" he nods his head. His cheeks going red from the cold breeze.
"I'm just going to head off. Thankyou though" he places his hand out to stop me.
Before he could say anything a black Audi pulled up infront of us.
"Here he is" my breath hitched as the window rolled down. There sat in all his glory. My father.
"Who's this?" I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out.
He stepped out of the car and looked at Steve confused.
"Hey dad, long time no see" his head snapped towards me with shock and confusion lacing his features.
Steve stepped away before Tony could do anything.
His face told me everything I needed to know. He didn't know who I was.
"I'm sorry kid, I don't have a daughter" my eyes watered and I nod my head.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have come here" I shake my head and turn to leave.
"I'm sorry kid, I hope you find who you are looking for soon" I nod my head wiping the tears that stray from my eyes.
Of course he didn't know who I was. Pulling my suitcase behind me Tony and Steve stayed outside. I could feel their eyes burning into my back.
"Is there anything I can do for you?" I hear behind me. I turn around and Tony is stood scratching his head.
"You could tell me where the closest bar is" he sighs.
"Sure, head down the street turn right" I nod turning around and walking away.
"I hope everything turns out alright"
"Yeah, me too. Thanks Tony" I knew he wouldn't want me. Who would?
I continue walking to the bar and head inside. The strong smell of beer filing my nose.
"What can I get you?" I place my suitcase beside me and sit on the bar stool.
"Tequila, straight" the bartender slides the shot across the bar to me and I take it drinking it in seconds.
"Another one please"
"Tough day?" I chuckle downing the shot.
"Tough few years" I motion for him to fill the shot glass again.
"And tequila is the answer I see" I shake my head at him.
"You'll regret it in the morning" I laugh and look him dead in the eyes.
"God, you could be my dad" he chuckles leaning on the bar and filling my glass.
"No i don't want kids" the irony.
"Yeah. Neither does my dad" his face goes blank as I down another shot.
"I'm sorry kid"
