Chapter 2

Welcome back//

"I really don't know which club I should join", I mumbled, leaning against my seat.

"What about the Thai Dessert club?", Pharm suggested, looking at me with a hopefull look in his eyes.

"I am a terrible cook. Cooking is definitly not my thing. Sorry, Pharm", I answered and looked at Team.

"You are in the swim club, aren't you?", I asked.

Even if only a few days had passed I already felt really comfortable in this group. 

Team nodded. 

"Yeah, I am in the swim team. New members are always welcome", he said and smiled.

"Well, can I... join the training this afternoon? I didn't swim in a long time. I don't know if I am very fast", I mumbled but Team immediatly placed a hand on shoulder.

"Don't worry. Of course you can join. We train a lot, so you haven't to be worried to be not good enough. After that you definitly will be good", he said jokingly and patted my shoulder.

"You can also join the drama club. I think you would be a great actor", Manow mumbled and looked at me with big eyes. I giggled.

"Well, when I was a kid I acted in some plays but I think I became too shy for that. I don't like to be in the focus.", I replied, " But I appreciate it that you wanna have me in the club so badly."

Before I could've done any comment the bell rang.

When the last lesson ended Team hurried to pack his bag.

"We have to hurry.", he said loudly, ignoring the other guys who turned to him, "I think Win hasn't a good day. I don't want him to yell at me if we are late."

I nodded, already packing my bag. 

"Call me after the training", Pharm said which I commented with a short "Sure" before I left. Team and I hurried to the swimming hall. 

"I brang a guest with me, Captain", Team uttered, when he saw Dean. The older one turned around, only wearing swimming shorts and his bathrobe. He looked at me and - if I didn't halluzinate - he smiled at me for a second. 

"Do you have swimming trunks with you?", he asked then. I nodded.

"Team, show him where he can change. And hurry. The training will begin soon." Deans voice sounded pretty serious and strict. But not unfriendly. Just like... a captain.

"Of course, Phi. Come on, Alex", Team mumbled, pushing me towards one of the doors.

With swimming tunks on and swimming goggles around my neck I walked back into the hall. Some other young men stood in line infront of Dean, while Win sat on one of the benches. Team was right. He didn't seem to be in a good mood. He looked kinda ... sad or frustrated. The last days he looked totally different.

Team pulled me out of thoughts when he grabbed my wrist and dragged me to the others. I followed him quietly and stepped next to him into the line. Dean looked at me, still a serious face, before he started to talk. He explained what we had to do and mentioned what we have to focus on. All in all it didn't sound very complicated.

"Alex and Earth. You will start. 1 Round back and forth. Win will stop the time." 

I swallowed. Earth seemed to be around my age but had much more muscles than me. I was sure, I would loose. Win stepped next to me.

"Okay, guys. Be ready!", he said in a bossy voice. 

I followed Earth to the edge of the pool.

"Good luck", he whispered.

"Thank you. Good luck."

He put his hand on the ground, making ready to jump. I copied him. At least I didn't forget how to swim. 

"Ready... Go!", Win yelled and my body seemed to be on autopilot. I jumped into the water and started swimming, totally forgetting what was around me. There were only my body and the water. It felt like I would become one with the water again. I felt like the kid who enjoyed swimming in the sea with his father at those hot summer days. My hand touched the wall of the pool. I dived down, turning my body into the other direction and started to swim again. I missed this feeling. I missed the old times when life was... easier. When... My fingers touched the hard  wall of the pool again. I pulled my head up, pushing back my wet hair with one hand and facing Win who looked at me with big eyes.

"Gosh. What was that? Wow, where have you been? We need this one for the team", Win started talking and looked over at Dean. Dean seemed kinda surprised, too.

"You were so fast. How did you do that?", I heard Earth speaking next to me. I tried not to blush but failed miserably. 

"I... I don't know. I didn't swim in a long time. I didn't know I was... this fast", I mumbled, looking at Win for a second.

"This was insane. I am afraid you could become as good as me", he joked and reached out his hand. With a smile I grabbed it and let him help me out of the water. 

"Good job. This was a pretty good time. With training you could become one of the best of the time.", Dean praised me and patted my shoulder, "Come to me after the training."

Then he turned back to the group. 

"Team, you will swim against..."

"Me!", the blonde one interrupted his captain and made eye-contact with Team. 

"Well, okay. Then I will stop the time. Come on, get ready."

I watched Team loosing against Win two times. I really tried to cheer him up but Win didn't make it easy cause he always made those "mean but not too mean" jokes. And after some time I was sure that Team wasn't really sad and was just acting to see Wins reaction. I didn't figure out what was going on between them. They seemed to be kinda flirty which each other - well, probably it was only Wins character - but whatever it was, I was fine with it. It made me happy to see them having this close relationship. And to be honest... it also made me kinda jelaous. Who wouldn't be? 

When Dean declared the training was over the boys seemed to be pretty done. Even I was very tired and I wasn't swimming for that long. They made their way to the bathing cabin and when I was about to follow them, Deans voice let me pause.

"Alex? Can we talk for a second?", he asked, his voice still serious.

"Sure, Captain", I responded.

"You were impressive today. So if you want to, you can join the club. What do you say?"

I looked at him kinda unsure. 

"Are you sure? Is everyone fine with it?"

"If I ask you if you wanna join, I just need a 'Yes' or a 'No'. Don't worry about anything else", he said, crossing his arm. Gosh... he was pretty professional. If I wouldn't have known him, I would have thought he would be a unfriendly grumpy. But when he was with Pharm ... even when he was with our group he was totally different. Shy, kind and caring. 

As I saw Dean still looking at me questioning, I remembered his question.

"Yes, Captain. I would love to join the club", I answered, a smile flashing over my face.

He nodded, before he laid a hand on my shoulder. His gaze became friendlier and he started to smile.

"Welcome to the team, Alex."
