"...Alex, do you wanna represent the first years of our swimming team at the competition?"
I looked at Dean. This was the chance I've waited for. My chance to show that I was as good as my dad. But it didn't feel right. Only the thought of the competition made me feel stressed. And I knew that it wasn't the right time for it. Not yet. I bit on my bottom lip. Then I answered.
"Thank you a lot for that chance and for your trust. But I can't do it. I am sorry. But there are other first years who deserve to take part at the competitions", I said and looked to Team for a second.
Dean followed my glance. Then he looked back on his paper.
"Well, I understand that. It's fine. But you are right. Team? Your time is one of the best in the team. And you worked hard... didn't even miss one training. Would you like to show your skills tomorrow after training when the principal will be here?"
Teams eyes grew big and with a shy smile he nodded. He thanked Dean for the chance before he laid an arm around me.
"Thank you, Alex", he whispered.
A half hour later I stood infront of Sins apartment. I knocked twice and waited for him to open.
"Alex, nice to see you. Come in. Don is already driving me crazy."
I laughed quietly.
"Thank you, P'. What is he doing?"
"Asking for you the whole time since a half hour", he answered, rolled his eyes grinning and let me come inside.
"Finally you are here", Don cheared and stood up from the couch. He hugged me and gave me a quick kiss.
"Sin already ordered sushi. Are you hungry?", he kept talking, taking my hand. I smiled and nodded.
"So, how was training? I heard that they've chosen a participant for the upcoming competitions", Don said, while sitting down at the table with me. Of course he knew who the participant was.
"Training was good. Dean talked to us about the competition. He told me I would be the one they've chosen me for joining the competitions but I rejected", I explained. I thought Don would be shocked or surprised but he just smiled.
"I knew you would say no. Finally you listen to me", he mumbled, laying one arm around me, "I would have been concerned if you would have said yes. I don't want you to put yourself under that much pressure."
"I know", I answered, leaning my head against his shoulder.
"Hey, Romeos, don't wanna disturb you but here is your food", Sin interfered and placed a box with sushi on the table. I thanked the oldest in the room and took my first bite. I was super hungry.
"Ah, Don?", I said, remembering the question I had.
Don looked at me after he put a piece of sushi in his mouth.
"My mom called me yesterday and wanted me to come around in the next school break. I would like to introduce you to her. Would you... join me?"
The older one grinned and nodded.ä
"I would love to join."
I smiled and looked back to the sushi box happily. Life seemed to be perfect.
Don leaned over to me and placed a kiss full of love on my cheek.
"I love you, Lex."
I took his hand and turned my head to him. With a smile I leaned my forehead against his and looked in his eyes.
"And I love you, Don."
