The few days before New Year's Eve was utterly boring. I had nothing to do except play with Jade, who liked to take frequent naps. Dad has been working more, and moms been talking to her mom about letting us meet her. I personally don't care to meet her, but I'll do it if Bethany asks me to. Trevor had gotten over his strep throat, and he's been playing the video games he got for Christmas. I tried reaching Rae to thank her about that night, but Vicky told me she had left back to campus, so I probably won't see her until spring break. It's a shame. New Year's Eve took a while to approach, but it was eventually the morning that I would be expecting Aspen to come. Eve and Wendy were going to the party as well, but Eve was going to catch a ride with Aspen and I. Cedric always threw the best parties, but I'd never been to one. The whole social being of our school never really sparked my interests, but I guess Aspen's just helping me bring out the side of me I never knew I had.
Eve and I started getting ready at 5:00. Eve took a shower while I picked out my outfit. I chose the crimson dress with the brown waist belt with a brown jacket and flats. Eve stepped out of the bathroom and I took a 15 minute shower. The warm water felt energizing and blissful. I soaked it all in and then dried myself off. I put the dress on and braided my hair to the side. It looked messy but natural. I decided to have Naomi apply my make up, since she knew more about it than me. I stepped out of the bathroom to marvel at Eve's appearance. She was wearing black jeans with a white and black printed shirt with a necklace and flats. Simple, yet sexy. Her hair was in a ponytail, and the ponytail was curled.
"I like the dress, Trish."
"I love the shirt you have on!" I exclaimed, pulling at it. She smiled and sat at the vanity in Naomi and her room. She started applying mascara and purple eyeshadow. I heard a throat clear behind me; Naomi. I turned around to see her leaning against the doorway, smiling.
"Ready?" She asked.
"To have my face painted and sticky, yep!" I laughed, sitting on the bed. She grabbed her bag of wonders and sat next to me.
"Ok, look up," she lifted my chin towards the ceiling with her hand and applied foundation. I felt like she was spreading liquified candy on my face. She rubbed it into my skin and plucked my eyebrows with a tweezer.
"Ouch!"
"Don't be a baby!" She smirked, plucking a few more hairs. She applied some powdered stuff and then gave me a little blush. She did reddish eyeshadow and black mascara. Once my lipstick was on, she did a tad bit of eyeliner and viola!
"Behold my masterpiece!" She giggled, presenting me to Eve. She looked at me and smiled.
"You look like Frankenstein and the boogeyman had a kid and that kid threw up marshmallows."
"Gee, tell me how you really feel," I laughed, looking in the mirror. The difference was like night and day. Sure, I felt a little awkward, but I didn't look all that bad for once. I sprayed on some perfume and we waited for Aspen to show up. Jade wanted to play in the snow, but my mom hated the smell of wet dog, so she had to sit inside for the time being. I sat down on the couch and Jade plopped herself on me. This was gonna suck when she got older and heavier. I pet her and she licked underneath my jaw, earning a giggle from me. She fell into a small nap on my lap. I stroked her soft puppy fur and remained silent. The clock ticked away. Eve and Naomi were fighting over her use of mascara and techniques. I smiled to myself. Jade's ears perked up when she heard the familiar sound of Aspen's car pull up our driveway. I stood up, Jade jumping next to me. Eve came down and we walked hand in hand to the car. Aspen was wearing his glasses, as usual, a plain black beanie, a brown sweatshirt that fit his body perfectly, and jeans. He smiled when he saw us.
"You guys look nice."
"Don't get all excited Aspen. I dressed like this for Hunter," Eve joked as she sat in the back. Aspen rolled his eyes and I buckled up front. He smiled and stated,
"I like the dress, it's nice."
"Thank you," I smirked, crossing my legs. He drove off to Hunter's house.
"So, how many people are there?" Eve asked. She didn't know Cedric that well, but I smirked and replied,
"It's Cedric, Eve. It's gonna be big."
"Is it just freshman?"
"Probably not," Aspen stated. She smiled and replied,
"Perfect. One of you has to be the designated driver, cause I'm getting wasted!" She whooped and I laughed.
"I'll be the DD tonight. I think I'm good after the drink I had last night." I wanted to slap myself then. Eve sat up and smiled,
"You drank last night?"
"Uh, yeah. They had wine at the restaurant," Aspen explained, saving me. I sighed and nodded in agreement. She crossed her arms and stuck her tongue against her cheek.
"Ok, Aspen, did you drink?"
"Uh, no," he stammered, trying to save himself. I bit my lip and exhaled slowly. She smirked.
"There's something your trying to hide from me, what is it?"
"Nothing," I blurted a little too quickly. She smiled wider.
"Trish, you suck at lying."
"I'm not used to it, ok?"
"So you are lying?"
"No!"
"Ha! Liar!" She laughed, pointing at me. Aspen sighed.
"Your right Eve, there's something we're hiding."
"I knew it!" She clapped, feeling victory, "what is it?!?"
"Mr. Field is the one who jumped us last night!" He lied, making it believable. I stopped, thought a moment, and kept silent. It was sorta true. Eve gasped, covering her mouth.
"He, what?!?"
"Yeah, he's the one who knocked Trish out and tried to hurt me." He looked at me for a moment.
"Right Trish?"
"I-I don't remember," I stated, rubbing my head. It throbbed from the mess of drugs in my system the night before. The sun started setting, and all the sky began to fill up with the endless stars of the universe. All oblivious to earthly problems. I sighed and stared at them as Eve asked several questions about our, 'date.' Aspen stuck to his original tale, never faltering. Eve grew bored after a while, and she dropped it. We pulled up to Hunter's house and waited for him to step out. He was wearing a black tank top with a camo hoodie and kacki pants. He slipped in the seat and snuggled up with Eve.
"You ready?" He asked, smiling at us.
"Yep," Aspen and I replied in unison.
