Saturday nights sleepover started at 5:30. Marleen's parents were out of town, so naturally, it was a boy-girl sleepover. I had hoped different, but that was gone when I came in and saw Marleen practically eating Luke's lips.
"Uhhh, hey?" I said, knocking on the doorway. Marleen spun around, like I hadn't seen anything.
"Hmm, hi!"
"I've been ringing the doorbell for ten minutes," I explained, pointing a thumb at the front door. She shrugged and got off of Luke's lap, much to his dismay.
"When will Samantha be here?" I asked. She checked the clock on the wall.
"About....now," then, almost as if on cue, the doorbell rang. I gave her a funny look as I opened the door. Samantha, wearing sunglasses and a jacket, said,
"Hey Trish, I'm hungry."
"Nice to meet you, hungry," I stated, letting her inside. She punched my arm and we went to the kitchen to make something. We heard some giggling from the living room, then Luke and Marleen disappeared down the stairs.
"So, is Ashton coming?" I asked, taking out a bowl and a wooden spoon. She smiled.
"Yeah, don't expect it to be quiet once he does."
"I won't," I stated, smiling. She stared at me and smirked.
"Someone's happy today."
"Hmm? No, I'm just being me." I took out the stuff for chocolate brownie cookies and set it on the counter. She took off her jacket and set it down, still looking at me.
"Sooooo, how was the date last night?" She asked, wiggling her shoulders. We heard a loud groan from downstairs.
"LUKE! HOLY SHIT!" We heard loud banging from downstairs. I rolled my eyes and pointed towards the doorway.
"Not like that."
"So, he's quieter?"
"No! We didn't do it." I thought of his lips against mine and stared off for a few minutes. Samantha hit my arm and said,
"Stop with the face, did you kiss him?"
"Yes, I did." I sighed and began mixing the stuff. The doorbell rang and Ashton stepped in. Samantha whipped around and asked me,
"How long will it take for the cookies to be done?" I rolled my eyes and said,
"About two hours altogether." She looked at Ashton, smirked, and said,
"I'll see you then, daddy's got some punishing to do," she grabbed the collar of his shirt and they disappeared upstairs. Once done with the dough, I set them neatly apart and sat on the couch, listening to the various noises. First downstairs;
"Shit, babe, go deeper!" Luke's voice echoed. Then from upstairs;
"YOUR MY DADDY!" Then a loud smacking sound. This was gonna be a long sleepover.
At about 7:45, the house quit shaking and Samantha appeared down the stairs, Ashton trailing behind. Luke came up with Marleen, who's hair was everywhere. They all looked at me expectantly. I crossed my eyes and shrugged.
"What?"
"Where are the cookies?" They asked. I gestured to the kitchen and they all grabbed all the cookies they could carry. I managed to grab one, but that was about it. Marleen ate hers slowly, savoring it, while Ashton and Samantha practically shoved it down their throats.
"It's soooogood!" The said in between bites. I gave them a modest smile and we all sat in the living room. They followed, still chewing the chocolate deliciousness.
"Who wants to play TRUTH?!?!" Marleen called, pulling out the board game. Everyone else whooped, but Samantha groaned,
"I don't wanna!"
"Too bad bitch, we're playing," she gave everyone five cards and sat back.
"Ok, I'll go first," she read a card out loud. "Tell everyone your favorite sex position, easy. Cowgirl!" Luke whooped and kissed her neck. Samantha rolled her eyes and tapped Ashton.
"Your turn."
"Ok," he shrugged, reading the first card, "would you ever sleep with your SO's mom?" He thought for a moment, looking at Samantha for approval. When she didn't, he said, "no, I guess not." She punched his arm and read her card.
"Who do you know that's got a daddy kink?" She smirked and looked at Ashton, "is that even a question?" We all laughed and Luke read his.
"Tell someone in the circle a secret they don't know," he looked up at me and stared. He looked like he wanted to say something. I frowned and sat up,
"What?"
"N-nothing," he stammered. Samantha and Marleen exchanged a glance. I looked at them and said,
"Guys, tell me." Marleen sighed and nodded at Samantha. Luke and Ashton took the hint, they got up and went downstairs. Once alone, they turned to me with serious expressions.
"Trish, try and be...understanding, ok?" Marleen set a hand on my shoulder and Samantha stared at me.
"You can tell me," I stated, staring back at her. She sighed and started;
"You remember how we told you that Aspen visited you every night?" I nodded.
"Well, he only missed two, once he was sick, and the other..." She trailed off, trying to think of how to word it. After a minute, Marleen said,
"There was a huge party at Cedric's house at Christmas junior year, everyone was invited. Aspen didn't wanna go, but we told him it'd be good for him to have some fun," she stopped, remembering. Samantha nodded and continued,
"Well, we took him there, but he wasn't really enjoying himself. He just drank and drank and drank. Eventually, he was wasted. I'm talking like, he could barely stand up. If we'd known what would happen that night..." She stopped to breathe. Marleen kept talking,
"We went off to party by ourselves a little. Now, I was drinking too, but I still saw them together. Aspen, completely drunk, was leaning against the wall, talking to Brittany. That's all he did, was talk. She got a little too frisky, and the last thing I saw was her leading him down a hallway." She stopped, looking at me. I sat there with my mouth wide open, sitting back a bit.
"Samantha has more," she turned to Samantha, who nodded and kept talking.
"Ashton and I were just passing through. I hadn't drank anything yet, so we were just on our way to a spare bedroom. I saw Brittany leading Aspen by the hand into an empty room. After a few minutes, we heard some noises..." She patted my back lightly, "do you understand Trish?" I shook my head, not wanting to process the new information.
"Not really."
"Aspen slept with Brittany. We wanted to tell you earlier, but..." They stopped, trying to offer me comfort. Some tears leaked through my eyes, I shook my head.
"We're sorry, Trish."
"It's not your fault," I stated, getting up and putting on my coat. They frowned and asked,
"Where're you going?"
"I need to talk with him, I'll be back," before they could testify, I was in the jeep and driving to his house. The radio played 'before he cheats' by Carrie underwood. I think it's a little late Carrie. My eyes blurred my vision, but I made it to his house in one piece. I pulled up and parked the car on the street, ready to make a quick get away. His dad and Trevor greeted me as I walked to the kitchen. Vicky waved at me and looked up from her work.
"Hey Trish."
"Where's Aspen?"
"Upstairs," she pointed, looking back to her drawings. I wiped a few tears away as I walked up the stairs and approached his bedroom. The door was shut, so I knocked a couple of times.
"Come in!" He yelled. I sighed and opened the door, wiping the last of the tears away. He was laying sideways on his love seat, playing call of duty on the xbox 1. He turned around, smiling. Then, he saw me, and his face turned to concern. He got up and started towards me.
"Trish? What's wrong?" He reached out, trying to hug me. I pulled away and took a step back. He paused and looked at me.
"We need to talk, Aspen." He nodded and sat down on the bed, gesturing me to follow. When I didn't, he asked,
"What is it, Trish?"
"Aspen, I need you to tell me the truth," I started, taking a deep breath. "Did you sleep with Brittany?" That made him pause. He opened his mouth, closed it, and opened it again,
"Trish, I-I.."
"So you did?" I inturupted, feeling my voice crack. He nodded, looking down at his feet.
"I didn't mean to, Trish."
"That doesn't change anything, why didn't you say something?!?" I yelled, tears sliding from my eyes. He got up and continued,
"Trish, I know it was wrong but..."
"But what?!?"
"I'm sorry," he stated, setting his hands on my shoulder. I wiped the tears off my face.
"Do you love her?" He frowned and shook his head,
"No."
"Liar," I stated, stepping away again. He shook his head,
"She means nothing to me, Trish, I swear!"
"It was just that once?" I stated, sobbing the words.
"Yes, I promise," he stated, stroking my cheek. I looked up to his eyes and said,
"I need time to think." He frowned and said,
"I told you, it was just that on.."
"I don't care, I need time to think," I covered my face and ran to my car, speeding away as fast as I could. All I could feel was heartbreak. I was feeling sad and confused and angry. I wasn't used to any of those. Well, sad maybe. But not the other ones. My head throbbed and my nose ran. Once I got to my house, I ran up the steps to my room and fell onto the bed, sobbing my heart out. I heard the door creak open, and my bed dipped down as my dad patted my back and asked,
"How ya feeling Trish?" I sobbed in response.
"I see, sooo, not too good?"
"Uh huh," I stated, burying my head in the pillow.
"Well, tell me what's wrong?"
"I'll be ok," I sniffled, not wanting to talk with dad about Aspen.
"Is it about Aspen?" He asked, trying to sooth me. Yay, now I get to talk with dad. Whoopdie do.
"Yeah."
"What about him?" He asked. I sighed into the pillow and said,
"Uh..stuff."
"What kinda stuff?" He asked. There was no getting around it, so I just said it flat out.
"Aspen..sorta..slept with someone."
"Someone?"
"Someone." I confirmed.
"I see, have you spoken to him about this, 'someone?'" I nodded, clutching the pillow.
"Yes."
"And what did Aspen say?"
"That he didn't mean to, that she's nothing to him." I cried more. He patted my back and sighed.
"Well, I'm at a loss for words, so should I just go and kill him?" I sat up and shook my head.
"No, you shouldn't."
"Ok, well, let me know if you want anything else, I'll be down stairs." And with that, he strolled down the stairs and disappeared. Eve came in the doorway after I'd calmed down a bit and patted my back.
"You ok?"
"You know what he did?" I asked, blowing my nose with a tissue. She nodded.
"Yeah."
"What should I do?" I asked, my chest hitching.
"Well," she started slowly,"if I were you."
"Yeah?"
"I'd want revenge." She stated, looking into my eyes. I frowned and exclaimed,
"I'm not sleeping with anyone for revenge!"
"I'm not saying to sleep with anyone, just make him work for your forgiveness." I sat up and sighed.
"I'm listening." She leaned forward and whispered her plan to me.__________________________________________________________________________________
