Seonghwa is an ill boy who was adopted by the Kang family 11 months after being placed there. He was close to aging out of the foster care system, so he was incredibly happy to be adopted. His adoptive brother Yeosang is thrilled, but at the same ti...
Nestled between white dunes is a dinky little shack made of mismatched wooden planks nailed together to form walls, topped with metal sheets haphazardly welded together to form a crude roof. There are no windows, the building only has a door as its sole entry and exit point.
Once inside, however, is like a completely new dimension. The circular area appears to be a study room. Warm light emanates from the crystal chandelier hanging from the high ceiling highlights the gold leaf pattern on the forest green tapestry covering the walls. A multitude of books and manuscripts is neatly organized on the bookshelves, which are fitted to curve around the walls. An old map of the world, dated 1867, is plastered to the wall beside the bookshelf.
The floor and fireplace are made of polished white marble. The crackling firewood disrupts the otherwise silent room. Picture frames and small trinkets decorate the fireplace mantle, the most prominent one being that of Siyeon, Bora, and their baby Seonghwa. A shashka and a Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/30 are mounted above the fireplace, under a large painting of Hajungdo in autumn (artist: Kim Bora).
At the very center of the room, directly under the chandelier and in front of the fireplace, is a dark wooden office table. Behind it is a luxurious fauteuil covered in blue velvet, the Gorodetsky coven's crest is carved on the top crest - a wolf on the right side and a harp on the left, with a cross flory in between them. To the left of the table is a floor-to-ceiling window and to its right is a wooden door engraved with the image of a wolf howling at the full moon.
A broken hourglass lays on its side, shimmering gold sand spilling into the desk.
The door opens and Siyeon enters, dressed in a black suit with gold pinstripes, her enchanted cape draped over one shoulder. She walks towards the table and plops down on the fauteuil, sighing audibly.
Siyeon looks down at the mess on her desk and a red envelope materializes before her. She pulls out a card from the envelope and reads the contents.
Dear Singnie unnie,
Sungjae informed me that Yujin was able to find a body for you to use during your meeting with Kiseop and Youngjo. Jinho is going to deliver it soon.
We miss you. Bora unnie is working hard to run the Daegu Dominion from Polaris' office in Seoul. Have you ever considered opening a branch in Daegu to make it easier?
By the way, are you sure you want still to keep Huahua's memories locked up? Just say the word and I'll release his memories.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to talk with you much. It's stressful being as rich and beautiful as I am. So many low-class bachelors and bachelorettes want me!
Anyway, you're probably aware of all the crap that's been going on. Don't worry too much, we can handle it. Just focus on protecting Huahua, okay?
Love, Dongie
A fond smile graces Siyeon's face. She was about to put the envelope down when she notices a photo and another card inside.
