Yubin's Office | Polaris Building, Seoul

As Polaris' second-in-command, Yubin's personal workspace is spacious and decorated in her own aesthetic, unlike the boring cubicles given to the lower-ranked agents. It has an industrial vibe, with off-white walls, wooden floors, a (laminated) wood accent wall, hanging light fixtures, a rugged beige carpet, and an antique-looking bookshelf. She has 2 boxy leather armchairs in front of her desk, for guests to sit in when meeting with her.

Her desk is custom-made to have a hidden compartment for a kukri near her right arm, and another one under her left arm to hide a Heckler & Koch USP9 Tactical pistol. All Polaris agents are required to have at least basic proficiency in combat, and most of them have a license to wield firearms (issued by the Council, the humans have no say in vampiric affairs).

Yubin was troubled by Seonghwa's call and she did her own research on Sangyeob and Ahyeon's background. What she found was concerning, something that they overlooked when they initially approved the couple. They were both orphans and their original birth certificates have been lost. The ones they presented to Polaris were issued after they were adopted.

It's not uncommon for happily adopted orphans to adopt since they can sympathize with them more, so Yubin didn't really pay attention to that part of their profile. But she can't trace their origins – how were they orphaned, where were they born, who were they before they became Kang Sangyeob and Kim Ahyeon? This is a critical failure on her part. Bora would whoop her ass if she found out Yubin messed up.

She had Huitaek and Hyojong look further into the case and she's waiting for their findings. Those two are surprisingly good at discovering information that's been deliberately erased. Hyojong sends her an e-mail and she hurriedly opens it.

Yubin scans the file before opening it because Hyojong has sent her some... questionable files in the past. But this one is just a list of crimes committed during the 1980s in North and South Jeolla. Two entries were highlighted and they contain links to more PDF documents containing compiled police reports and various legal records of "Lee Taeyong" and "Kim Yerim".

It's a very long read. How these two managed to unearth all of this information in such a short period of time, Yubin will never know. She skims through the files they collected and decides this needs to be forwarded to Bora. As she did that, someone knocks on her door.

"Ms. Yubin? It's me. May I come in?"

Ko Shinwon, who handles the educational matters of Polaris' charges. He's quite the ladies' man, or so he claims.

"Come in!" Yubin replies, sitting back on her chair while waiting for Bora to reply.

A tall, dark-haired man in a navy blue suit comes in, holding a brown envelope. He's handsome and can be a gentleman when he wants to be.

Shinwon places the envelope on her desk. "Jungshin High requires Seonghwa and his buddies to attend P.E. classes even when the rest of their classes are conducted online, so I arranged for them to come to the dorm's basketball court every Friday. It's safer for Wooseok and Yuto since they still have a hard time controlling themselves around unfamiliar humans."

Yubin nods, taking out the contents of the envelope, "Oh? A syllabus for your very own P.E. class?"

"Yup. The school is pretty lenient on what kind of activities the kids do." Shinwon replies, "So I put together a 20-minute exercise plan for the kids to follow. I already presented it to the school rep, I just thought you should know what I'm gonna be teaching the kids."
