                          (A) is a detective, average and relatively helpful but not particularly unique in any way. Unfortunately they get caught by a serial killer, (B). (B) tortures (A) for a bit, as they normally would, but decides (A) is just too cute when they cry to be killed. So (B) keeps (A), and constantly praises them even as they torture (A), leaving (A) confused and unsure of what to think.
