"Okay, Liu-kun, let's start from where we left off okay?" You smiled kindly at the Chinese boy sitting beside you. Since he was a new transfer student and you were one of the best students at school, the teacher had asked you to be his guide. Now, you were teaching him basic Japanese that he'd need for daily usage.

"...好(Yes.)" he responded in Chinese. You were glad your parents insisted you took several language courses when you were a kid.

"Hm... Let's do some vocabularies." You wrote some characters on his notebook. '友達'. "This reads 'Tomodachi' and it means 'Friend'."

He nodded wordlessly. You sighed inwardly. Liu was a handsome boy but his silence sometimes annoyed you. You've been guiding him for almost a month now and the two of you met up at his home every day but you barely talked about anything outside the lessons.

"Next is 父母 (parents). Here, I'll write it down." You wrote it down again. ''. "This is how you write 'Oya' which means either your 父亲(father) or 母亲(mother)." '母親'. "Can you read that?"

"...Japanese reads... this..." he tried to speak with his limited Japanese. Although that signature distasteful expression on his face didn't subside, his eyebrows were furrowed more in thought this time. "...'Hahaoya'?"

"Yes, that's correct!" you clapped your hands proudly. "It seems like you've been reading the dictionary I gave you, huh?"

He nodded, glancing at the Chinese = Japanese dictionary you bought for him.

"It can also be shortened to 'Haha' which still hold the same meaning. There's actually various ways to read this noun. For example," 'お母さん'"is read 'Okāsan'. Do you get it?"

"Yes."

"Good. Next-"

"(L/N)." he cut you off and you looked up at him. Those narrow eyes of his were watching your face with a certain intensity you'd never seen in them before. "Japanese for...新娘 (Bride). What?"

"E-eh? Bride?"

"Yes... I'd like to know."

"Uh, well... It's," you scribbled down the noun, a little embarrassed. Why would he want to know the Japanese of a bride? It's not for daily usage!'花嫁'. "'Hanayome'. It means bride."

"Hm..." he placed a hand under his chin. Then he mumbled, "也许太快 (Perhaps, it is too fast)."

You blinked. "What is?"

"Nothing." He said, back in Japanese. Liu went quite for a moment and it seemed that he was once again thinking. "Then... Japanese for 情人 (Lover)?"

You blush a little. Serious, first it was a bride now a lover. Why would he want to know these words? They weren't even part of today's lesson!

'恋人'"Uh, this is 'Koibito'. It means lover." He took it down in his notebook. You fidgeted, asking, "Liu-kun, is there any specific reason why you want to know these words?"

He stared at you, confused, and you realised that that must've been too fast and long for him to understand. "I mean...为什么你想知道这些话(Why would you want to know these words)?"

He ignored you. Instead he wrote down a sentence on your notebook. His kanji and hiragana were still clumsy but you could read them. You blush.

'僕の恋人になってください'(Please be my lover)

Your face bloomed into several shades of red. You truly didn't expect this to turn out like this. Since when? How? Why? How come you didn't notice anything concerning this? What drove this on?

Sensing your confusion, Liu tried to explain. But it was impossible with his limited Japanese and he was determined to ask you out in Japanese. Knowing that words would come out fruitless, he used his action.

Cupping your cheeks gently in his big hands, Liu leaned forward to kiss you gently. Your eyes widened. Once again, you didn't expect this.

When you parted, Liu tilted his head slightly to the side and gave you a small smile. Your heart skipped a beat. You'd never seen him smile before.

"愛しています (I love you)."

OoOoO

I'm really sorry this come so late! I was so busy on Lunar New year! BTW, HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

This is a request from indigoskycaller. Thank you so much for the request! I hope you enjoyed this! And I'm sorry if Liu is a little out of character! I was half-asleep when I typed this, haha!

Thank you for reading! And I'm sorry! I couln't find picture fitting for this one-shot! And I also apologize if the Chinese and Japanese hold a mistake somewhere. I didn't use a translator. I've been learning Japanese since the start of high school and Chinese since kindergarten so I'm confident. I do hope I don't make any mistake though!

Love,
