Having gums purposely stuck on your hair, having trash or flour poured upon you, having your indoor shoes or P.E uniform destroyed or being called cruel names... you had experienced them all. Maybe even more so that what were just listed.
All your life, you had always been the victim. You never did anything wrong. You always tried to help but people only saw your mistakes. You were always being used and picked on.
After all the hardships, you were finally freed when you enrolled in a newly established school - Seirin high - where none of your ex-schoolmates applied to.
You always tried to be invisible so no one would notice you. If you weren't noticed, no one would see your faults. You were safe in your own bubble. Sure, you felt lonely at times but you would rather be lonely than being bullied.
"I like you, (L/N)-san. Will you please go out with me?"
You blinked, not expecting that to come from your fellow classmate - Kiyoshi Teppei. You couldn't believe what you just heard. He was smiling at you, an almost invisible blush tinting his cheeks.
You never really talked to him before. It's just a coincidence that the teacher asked the two of you to collect the homework and handed them in to him. Thus why the two of you were walking back to class together.
"E-excuse me?"
He scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "Well, I have had my eyes on you for a while now, (L/N)-san. I was wondering if you return the feelings and want to go out with me."
Instantly, different shades of red covered your whole face. This was the first time someone confessed to you. It seemed surreal. The truth was you always liked Kiyoshi. He was different from other guys. He was so kind, caring and hard-working.
But what if he was just dared to confess to you?
You gulped, "Kiyoshi-san, who dared you?"
"Huh?" he blinked. "Dared?"
"No one in their right mind would ever like me." you shook your head at the idea. You looked away from Kiyoshi's confused gaze. "I'm awkward and shy. I'm meek. I'm not pretty. I'm not smart. I'm not popular. I'm weird. I'm nothing special."
Kiyoshi suddenly stopped and grabbed your wrist, spinning you around so you were facing him. You were surprised at the upset look on his face. It really didn't suit him. He always looked friendly and warm.
"You are beautiful, (L/N)-san. You are kind. You are hard-working. You care about others although you never act on it. And you are special." He placed your hand on his chest. "To me."
You felt the fast beating of Kiyoshi's heart against your palm. It matched your own.
"B-but I'm-"
"You don't know it but I have always noticed you. I know you always feed the stray cats in the public park. I know you got lost in the field trip in our freshman year after you helped a lost child. I know you were the one who secretly fixed the banner till late for the sports festival in sophomore year. I also know you're the one who water the flowers in the courtyard every day."
This stunned you. You blushed and warmed inside. Now you were convinced that this wasn't a dare. There's no way he'd noticed so much about you if it wasn't because he liked you. Or maybe he's a stalker.
Your mouth opened and closed a few times. You didn't know what to say. You were embarrassed. "A-are..." you croaked, "Are you s-stalking me?"
Gods, you really didn't mean that to slip out.
Surprisingly, Kiyoshi chuckled and gathered you in his arms. He was so tall and big, you were engulfed. You felt safe. It's like he was shielding you.
"I probably am." He replied to your accidental question. "After all, it just seems like my eyes can never stray away from you."
You blushed. "You don't think I'm weird or anything like that?"
He shook his head. "Of course not. As I stated before, you're special."
The pure sincerity and his genuineness warmed you. Slowly, your lips curved up into a smile. It felt a bit tense since you hadn't smiled in a long times but it felt good. You felt as if a huge boulder was lifted off your shoulders.
"Ah," Kiyoshi cupped your cheek, "See? You are beautiful. Even more so when you're smiling."
"D-does it look weird? I haven't smiled in a long time." You tried to hold back the smile because you didn't want your stiff smile to disgust him. He laughed out loud at you.
"Then we'll have to make up for lost time. I'll make sure you smile a lot from now on, (L/N)-san."

"Okay. Now follow me." You nodded. Kiyoshi inhaled and screamed, "I AM SPECIAL!" gathering the attention of the assembling students in the courtyard.
You blushed but obeyed, looking down at the students from the rooftop. "I-I AM SPECIAL!"
"Louder, (F/N). I'M NOT AFRAID OF BULLIES!"
"I'M NOT AFRAID OF BULLIES!"
"I LOVE (L/N) (F/N)!"
"I LOVE (L/N)- u-uh..." you blushed, "K-KIYOSHI TEPPEI!"
Laughing, Kiyoshi hugged you tightly, picking you up then twirling you around. "Good job, (F/N)!" he kissed you lightly on the lips. Your squeak was swallowed by the catcalls and cheers from the courtyard. "I love you."
"I-I love you too..." you mumbled back shyly. He kissed you again.
The perfect moment, however, was disturbed when the teachers barged onto the rooftop. The two of you got detention for a whole week.

BTW, while I was researching Kiyoshi, I found out that he and Aida Riko used to date! OMG, big news! I KNOW I FEEL SEXUAL TENSION BETWEEN THOSE TWO! Like when Riko gave him a massage in... was that in the fight with Yosen?
