The entire army was gathered in the large arena to witness the notable event. Many thought history would be made that day. And they would be right.

There were magical protections so nothing that happened in the arena could affect the onlookers. The battle would commence at the rise of the second sun. The fight would have no pauses, all tactics were fair game, and no outside intervention was allowed. The viewers waited with bated breath for the last combat to begin.

"Welcome!" Chaos announced. "This is the biennial Chaos Competition! The Me Competition, if you will. Many fights have been won, but there can only be one victor. I present to you the reigning champion, the Shadow Fighter, the head of the Lambda (Λ) Division, General Jeong!"

Cheers erupted from the stands. Most took bets on him. Sure, Ichor was a good fighter, but Jeong had won the past three competitions. The odds were in his favor.

"Going against General Jeong is a person no one can underestimate," Chaos continued after the enthusiasm died down a little. "They excelled in their training, their powers are endless as far as we can tell, and they have surpassed all expectations so far. Can they pull out the ultimate win? I present to you... Lieutenant Ichor!"

The cheers for Percy were no less rowdy than they were for Jeong. Those who bet on him were playing high stakes. But what no one, save Chaos, knew was that the deck was stacked towards Percy. He had powers yet to be revealed. Jeong's powers were all well known, which allowed Percy to plan and prepare to combat them. Jeong, however, could only use the past matches of this tournament to help him understand his opponent.

The two stepped into the arena looking intimidating in their own way. Jeong was laced in shadows. They wrapped around his heavily armed body and lashed out like whips at random intervals. Percy had only the standard Chaos armor and his weapons, but as he approached the center to shake hands, water tendrils slithered around him like snakes and creeped up his body like vines.

As per tradition, they shook hands. Then they knocked their weapons together to signal the beginning of the fight with the first move using weapons. The battle started with a bang.

Quite literally, Percy caused the earth beneath Jeong to explode with a loud bang. He had been honing into his powers over the earth. Learning how to shake it, break it, and ply it to his will. It was something no one had prepared for.

Unfortunately for Percy, Jeong was light on his feet and merely landed a few yards away. Percy jumped into action and went for a quick attack, but Jeong was faster. They parlayed in complete harmony, getting a feel for each other's fighting patterns, looking for weaknesses in their opponent's form. Having spotted none, they tried one-upping each other. Making riskier moves that could give them the upper hand. But the two were very evenly matched.
