Jaemin stumbled to the wall as he could taste the metallic blood in his mouth. He looked up, seeing the figure walking closer to him. Jaemin tried his best to stand back up but instead stumbled again, dizzy.

"Can't even stand up, son?" His father, Na Byungho, walked slowly until he stopped right in front of him.

His father lowered himself so that he was eye-level with Jaemin's crouched body. He tsked at the state of his son, feeling pity for him.

"You know, Jaemin?" Byungho started, pulling out a hard strip of leather. "You'll never, ever be enough."

Byungho hit him with the leather, causing Jaemin to collapse to the floor, Byungho laughing in amusement. He could honestly care less that he was abusing his son.

Before Byungho could do anything else, his phone started ringing, making him groan as he picked it up.

Jaemin sighed, the metallic taste infiltrating his mouth, and closed his eyes for a moment. He didn't know why his father had suddenly become abusive. Except he knew exactly why.

It's because mom left...

After talking on the phone for a few minutes, Byungho hung up and looked back at the collapsed figure of his son.

"I'll let you off this time, but be ready next time."

Byungho left the house, leaving Jaemin all by himself in the house. He stood still for a few minutes before trying to stand back up again. He winced at the pain in his back, 100% sure it would leave a scar.

Jaemin managed to walk to the door, grabbing his jacket, and walked out of the house. He had remembered to meet up with the boys this afternoon and went on his way to Donghyuck's house.

He was used to it. After all, he had been living like this for the past year. Ever since Jaemin's mom had run away, his dad started to become an alcoholic and started abusing Jaemin, blaming him for his mother's action.

Jaemin was numb to the pain.
