Oh how you hated the sound of crying. Especially your own...

But this time you didn't think it was you.

Desperately trying to pinpoint who it was was difficult, especially given you didn't even know who you were anymore.

Still you reached out your hand almost instinctively. And like your involuntarily movements expected, someone hastily grabbed on to it.

You could almost feel their emotions as they held your hand like they were crading a baby.

{2006}

"Thank you (y/n), you can leave now."

With a forced smile, you thanked the man in front of you and turned towards the door. As you walked, you passed your coworker Elliot.

You and Elliot worked as personal bodyguards to one of the greatest detectives in the world, L.

You'd think it would be a pretty dangerous job but you quite honestly thought it was the worst job you ever had.

L never went outside, he was never in danger, never even needed anyone to protect him because suprise surprise he took martial arts. He was a million times smarter than you and could get himself out of any situation he needed to.

So, you and Elliot stood around your entire shift, fetching different junk food for L while constantly on edge.
L never seemed to talk to you besides asking for favors. So you felt more like his maid than anything.

That being said, you very much disliked your job.

You usually walked home home from work as it wasn't too far from thw building.

At this point you were basically nocturnal, you spared Elliot the lost sleep and took the night shift so you guessed it was about 5 in the morning. You liked watching the sunrise though.

You lived in an apartment complex, by choice of course. You definitely got paid enough to get a house.

There was just a lingering feeling you wouldn't be around much longer, so why buy a house?

Humming a tune you couldn't quite remember the name up, you arrived at your apartment and walked inside.

The inside was quite a mess. Although you felt comfortable living there, you had a countless amount of plants in there that you took care of and it always smelled like eucalyptus leaves, which you thought was weird, because you didn't grow eucalyptus.

Exhaused, you slipped out of your work clothes and fell onto your couch. You knew you would probably fall asleep but you were afraid of falling asleep without something to listen to.

So you flipped on the tv, and like fate decided to give you more trouble...

"Last night, within the Tokyo West Penitentiary Naoki Kurotsukayama, aged 32, who was being detained for armed robbery is reported to have died of a heart attack."

"Holy shit, that's like, the 56th one!" You mumbled as you sat up and payed more attention, trying not to fall asleep.

"In response to the endless, bizarre deaths of prisoners, people have now given the person or thing responsible behind, the name 'Kira'."

You flipped to a different station. Unfortunately for you there was only more about "Kira".

"Ughhhhhhhhh"

You turned off the Tv and got up. The words of the reporter kept playing in your head.

'Are people really rooting for him??!'
