Labored breathing, shaking, sweating....
OF COURSE! Tamaki is having a panic attack.
Mirio was ashamed it took him so long to figure that out. It was to be expected that a socially anxious person, especially Tamaki, had these kind of attacks once in a while. I'm stupid. I already witnessed this before.
Flashback:
"And here I've got some games we could play, Amajiki", babbled Mirio while he lead the 10 year old Suneater to his living room. "It's so... so nice here, Togata."
They had been playing some boardgames when Mirio got too excited about the situation and accidentally used his quirk. He sank into the ground and Tamaki was shocked. The latter didn't know what to do so he called for Mr. Togata.
After Mirios Dad had helped resolve the situation Tamaki was still in shock. "I'm ... I'm so glad you're alright, Togata", he managed to rasp out in between breaths that seemed to quicken every second. This, of course, didn't go unrecognized. Even if Mirio was only a child he knew that something was wrong. "Amajiki, are you okay?", was the only thigh he could voice before his friend started to hyperventilate. Tamakis whole body was shaking so Togata called for help.
His parents somehow managed the situation by talking to his friend and reassuring him that everything was alright.
After Tamaki had calmed down Mirio came closer and hugged him. "I'm glad you're alright, Tamaki."
"Thanks, Mirio."
Flashback end.
Focus, Mirio! You don't have time for this.
Okay. Remember what should you do. Maybe...
"Tamaki? Can you hear me? I need you to answer me!?", but all he got was a small whine. "Everythings alright, Tamaki. You are safe. Noone's gonna harm you", he reassured but his friend didn't respond.
He can't hear me.
Mirio new that time was of the essence here since Tamakis breathing became more labored by the second but what should he do if he couldn't even communicate with him.
Panic attacks are a type of fear response. For Tamaki they usually are caused by him overthinking in stressful situations [at least that's what he told me].
Mirio looked down in his best friends face and saw that Tamakis eyes were about to close. The attack must've started a few minutes prior to Mirio coming to help and the strain it put on Tamakis already exhausted body must have been too much.
All Mirio could do was watch helplessly as his friend clutched at his shirt fighting to stay conscious. The indigo haired boy must've been trying very hard to stay awake since there was a shine of sweat on his forehead. He looked so fragile. His body needs rest. "It's okay, Tamaki. I've got you." These words seemed to reach the Suneaters ears because his eyes closed and his body grew limp in an instant.
Although Mirio could hold Tamaki up like this forever it would be better to lay the unconscious boy down. I shouldn't leave him alone tho. So Mirio picked his best friend up and made his way to his room.
On the way up he met Hado who was just on her way to find them both. Her facial expression showed how confused and concerned she was at Mirio carrying Tamaki. But Mirio didn't have time to explain right now so he just said: "Panic Attack. Gotta lay him down."
That was enough for Nejire to follow the blond boy to his room where he put Tamaki on his Futon. The Girl for her part was still shocked at Tamakis state but she sprang quickly into action and got a wet towel from the common bathroom and gave it to Mirio so he could put it on Tamakis forehead.
Then they waited.
Mirio and Nejire sat on the other side of the room and watched Tamaki carefully while talking about what lead them into this position.
Hado had even more questions after hearing about what Mirio had witnessed. Why was tamaki in the hallway to begin with? Why did he have a panic attack? What happened before Mirio arrived? An-
"WHAT HAPPENED HERE?"
Mirio and Nejire both looked starstruck at the frontdoor:
"AIZAWA-SENSEI?"
