"Hey, I just signed the papers and Fudo is officially not mine anymore."
"I'm so happy for you?" Zara says with a hesitant voice. "Or, I'm sorry?"
"A little bit of both actually. I'm sad because this was my first company but I'm glad because now I can focus more on our club. And speaking of our club, I have great news. We can finally start our renovations."
"Oh my God, that's great news. By the way, what happened with your father and sister? I felt like things went downhill after I left."
"Oh, where do I even begin?" I sighed.
The night of the party
"Hello, fam. Can't believe you haven't invited me to this special occasion. But I couldn't miss my brother's engagement party for the world." she said and my father aggressively walked to her.
"What the hell are you doing here?" he tried to say it calmly but he was about to yell. I ran there to try to calm him down.
"I just told you. I'm here to celebrate." she said with a huge smile.
"You're not celebrating anything with my family. Get out!" my father said. His voice was a bit loud so few guests turned to him.
"But I am family, father." she was being very cocky and my dad was about to snap.
"Okay, great reunion but let's continue in the study." I said and I took them to the study.
"What the hell are you doing here Leighton? It's not the time." I said to my sister.
"Well, I missed you guys. Especially dad." she said sarcastically while my dad rolled his eyes.
"Look, I can't deal with you right now. We'll talk after the party. Just, lay low." My dad said and left the room. I couldn't believe he just left.
"Daddy dearest is being his sweet self as usual. How you been sis?" Leighton asked sweetly.
"I have been better. I know you and dad have problems but I really missed you." I said hugged her. "And if you came here to talk about what happened, you better leave. But if you're willing to pretend as nothing happened, then I'll try to talk to dad. Though I don't think he'll forgive you."
We've been seeing each other for the last year and we became pretty good friends. Of course, my dad did not know about it. I didn't love the idea of him finding out but I mean, it's my life after all.
Leighton was an overall good person but when it came to dad she changed. I mean I don't blame her, she's right. She had to go through so much because of him. Still, I would love to see them bury the hatchet.
When I left and came here, something bad happened, something I don't wanna talk about. She was there with me when it happened so even though I love her, I was scared of her telling people what happened.
"I'm not here for that. I won't tell anyone, don't worry. I missed you too. You're my favorite Winthrope, well, after me of course." she said and we laughed.
"I'm glad. Oh my God, you should meet Zara." I said excitedly as we left the room. Zara was my best friend but last year I was in a different city. So we haven't got to hang out in real. We were only able to talk on the phone. And since that year Lee and I got so close, I mentioned Zara a lot in our conversations. But they haven't actually met yet.
"It'll be nice to finally meet her in person." she said. When we got to the party I first saw Nick and remembered that I just left him when Lee came.
"Oh, I have to talk to Nick first. I'd tell you to hang out on your own but I don't want no murder at this party. So come along and be nice." I said to Lee. She nodded.
