Hello and welcome one and all to chapter ten. As you see here, the usual angst is in order. So sit back and enjoy the pain.-😈
As a general rule, Janus didn't like breakfast. Roman was never there to enjoy it with him, and it took all the life out of the apartment.
He disliked it even more now. It was tense and highly awkward, the only noises were the clinking of spoons and forks. The room itself was pretty but it was cold and empty. It was only a mere facade. Just like the Hart family.
The silence of the room was deafening and Janus got the vibe that it wasn't always this silent, but rather part of this was due to him and the conversation earlier that Logan and Patton stubbornly avoided metitioning. Logan was right at his elbow, almost too close for comfort, and Janus was sitting right across from Logan's other father, thank god. Being near Patton would be a nightmare.
"Alright, I think it's time to start planning the wedding!" Patton exclaimed cheerfully, the silence from moments ago forgotten. Janus choked on his oatmeal and Logan jerked his head up.
"W-w-we just got engaged father, shouldn't it be prudent to wait a little longer?" Logan offered somewhat hopelessly. Patton shook his head.
"Nonsense! Now's the perfect time to start planning. Don't you agree Emi?" Patton asked sweetly. Janus started wishing for some wine, so he could pretend he wasn't there. Emile looked at Patton and then Logan.
"I suppose it would make sense," He agreed hesitantly. Logan sighed as Patton cheered, and it was though he was resigning himself to his fate.
"Come on, I have the wedding planners here already! Oh and Emi dear, go back to your room please?" Patton said getting up as his husband nodded and turned from the room. Janus refrained from snorting. So much for waiting. Logan glanced at him, and stood up, waiting for him to follow. Janus followed with extreme reluctance, letting Patton lead the way.
"How much do you bet he has everything picked out already?" Janus muttered to Logan. Logan half smiled.
"Knowing my father, I would bet he's already decorated the entire ballroom with the colors of the wedding," He whispered back. Janus rolled his eyes, almost laughing.
"There's no way." Logan shook his head with a knowing smile. Sure enough, when they walked in decor was being displayed all around the room. "I stand corrected." Patton squealed happily, clapping his hands.
"Aww, look at the two of you getting along! I bet you'll love your wedding night," Patton grinned. Logan and Janus looked at each other with varying amounts of disgust. Patton's happy expression darkened a little at that, but it quickly sprung back up. "Anyway, I decided the color scheme will be blue and gold, what do you think?" Logan sighed, not bothering to answer. Janus on the other hand..."What shade?"
"Navy of course!"
"Mm too light," Janus said pettily, hiding a smirk. Patton looked at him in confusion. Perfect. Time to fuck with a bitch. "And gold, too sparkling, I think." Logan looked at him, visibly concerned. He knew what Janus was doing. Janus didn't stop. He picked up a centerpiece, examining the flowers. "And roses? Really? They aren't even in the color scheme." They really weren't. The roses instead were a pinkish shade, one Roman would have called "Fit for a bride!" with a grin as he kissed Janus's cheek.
Jsnus felt himself sigh, but pushed passed it, smirking at Patton. Patton had gone from confused to annoyed.
"This is not your decision to make."
"Oh really?" Janus mocked. "I was under the impression this was my wedding." Patton forced a smile.
"Oh it is. But given both of your poor tastes in.. other things, I took charge for you." Janus hissed, stepping back, bumping into Logan, who still looks more despondent than usual. Patton hums, happiness returning. "Anyhoo, I just wanted you two to sign the papers today. The fancy one will be in a while, but I thought we should do the official one right now."
Patton whipped out a piece of paper and handed Janus a pen. "You first!" Janus signs so roughly the paper almost rips. Logan follows quickly, just closing his eyes, as the pen hardly touches the paper. "Yay! Now, for more wedding planning!"
Janus and Logan look at each other and the look is utterly hopeless. When it came to their lives, there was no way out. There couldn't be.
In hidden hallways and through a pipe, two boys listen to the loves of their lives sign away any hope of their love. Both curse their loves, as the others lament what will never be again. In the streets, the rebellion stirs, as a young man in a black cloak approaches the apartment door of Remus Duke.
For reference, Roman and Remus are half brothers, that's why the last names are different.- 😈
