Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! Who's excited to read my shit? I know I am. Anyways, here's a flashback chapter before the next proper one I guess. Enjoy!😈
Eventually, that became the new routine. It didn't become less frightening, but Emile became a bit more numb to it. Emile wasn't sure when he stopped leaving his room, but it was probably around the time he suggested that maybe he and Patton should separate for a while.
Patton did not take that well.
"I think it will benefit us to spend some time apart, that's all I'm say-"
"You want to leave me alone?"
"No, I just want to have some space. I haven't left the house in over a year," Emile soothed. "Look at us, you're yelling at m-"
"Don't blame this on me, that's your fault!" Patton fumed. "You bring this on yourself!'
"No, I don't. I try and stop it, and you scream at me to shut up."
"I never do that!" Emile shook his head, stepping away."Patton, I will be leaving this house and going into town tomorrow. You aren't going to stop me." Emile turned to leave, when Patton grabbed his wrist and jerked him back. Emile yelped in pain. "Let me go please." Patton smiled pleasantly, the rage nearly nonexistent in his face.
"No, I don't think so."
Now Emile was confined to their room, under lock and key, never allowed to leave, not unless Patton said he could.
Things only got worse from there.
Emile, after miserable day and miserable night, finally had gotten pregnant, just as Patton wished. Two twins were born. One was born the perfect son Patton wanted, not a single flaw, and the other born just as perfect, but blind. Patton wanted no part in naming the younger twin, preferring the "perfect" one. Emile didn't care what Paton wanted. He named them both, without Patton. Or and Lysander, his light and his liberator. His perfect twins. He might not have wanted them yet, but he was going to love them the way they deserved, especially in this chaotic house.
Of course Patton was far from pleased, but he couldn't change them without looking bad. Emile took small pride in the fact that he used Patton's own power against him. That was over in about two seconds flat.
"You're such a bitch!" Patton complained. "This is your fault. She's always angry with me because of YOUR failures." Emile was watching Lysander and Or, the two babies cuddling near each other on the bed. He petted their heads quietly, trying to make sure they slept. "You just don't stop failing do you?" Emile lifted his chin up, sick of Patton's constant belittling.
"Don't blame me. You proposed."
"And you said yes!""I was sixteen, how could I possibly know better? You were older than me, you should have thought this through!" Emile snapped.
"I did, you didn't even think about it!"
"I was in front of a huge crowd of people who wanted me to say yes!"
"You have to learn not to submit to peer pressure!"
"I was lonely and desperate for love, because I was a child who was angry with their parents." Emile snapped back, taking back the argument. "And you knew it too," he said quietly. Patton rolled his eyes.
"So now we're playing the blame game?"
"We've been playing it for years!" Emile said, trying to keep his anger in check. "Except it was always on me! And I've had enough of it.""What do you think you can do? You can't leave," Patton scoffed.
"Watch me." With that, Emile, who already placed the children in a basket, jumped from the window, which was close to the ground, thank god. Patton didn't enjoy his games, calling for guards. Emile didn't wait for him to finish, running through the backwoods, to his parents home, where it was safe. Just as he reached the door, Lysander started to cry. Emile picked him up, soothing him. And it was too late."You're coming back with us," The guards snapped, one taking Lysander from Emile, another pinning his arms behind him, dragging him back.
"Let go of me!" Emile fought. "Give me my children!"
Lysander wailed, upset and confused. Or started to cry as he woke up somewhere very much not his home. Emile struggled, trying to get back to at least one of his children. The effort was fruitless and he ended up right back in the room, Or abandoned by his parents and Logan just out of reach.
"You're dismissed," Patton said coldly, the guards handing him the child and dropping his struggling partner. Patton laughed lightly at Emile. "Running away, Emi? That won't do." Emile glared at him.
"I have a right to leave this house," Emile insisted. "I am a citizen of this ham-"
"You are MY husband. Don't be fooled my darling," He cooed, petting his cheek. Emile pushed him away. "You aren't ever leaving."
"I am not a prisoner. I AM allowed to leave this house."
"Are you?" Patton asked sweetly. "Or perhaps you are confined to your bed, sick?" Emile scoffed.
"I am perfectly healthy."
"That's not what this hamlet believes." Patton smiled serenely. Emile was more frightened now, having never seen Patton so calm. He was always threatening. He was always trying to blame him or hurt him or make up for it. But never, had he once been so calm and so angry.
"What are you talking about?"
"Well, I fear a small rumor may have slipped a little while ago about how unwell you are, since you were so young when you got pregnant with twins. And that one of them miscarrigaged, can you believe it?" Patton mock gasped. Emile felt sick.
"You can't leave him there, he'll die!"
"Good!" Patton laughed. "And you can stay here, knowing you're the reason your precious son died." Patton stopped for a second, ignoring his heart broken partner. "Well, actually, not here. Since my mother switched estates, I have a perfect spot for you." Patton dragged Emile, who no longer felt strong enough to fight, passing a pair of guards in front of the room. Emile was put in a room with a single window that was only large enough to fit a hand through, and a single locked door with a small bathroom, nothing dangerous in there. The only bit of comfort was the small bookshelf beside the small chair. "You will stay here until I see it fit to set you free. You aren't leaving unless you learn to behave.""But what about-"
"Lysander?" Patton mocked. "I can handle raising a child. You, on the other hand, can't handle anything." With that, Patton left, locking the door behind Emile, leaving him trapped up in a tower.
