Chase massaged his temples. He hadn't gotten any sleep the night before, and his head was pounding. He looked out of his car window. He watched as people came and went, back and forth into a shabby club. He sighed as his radio started to pick up chatter. "Chase? Are you there, Chase?" A familiar voice asked from the radio. Chase smiled. "Yeah, I'm here Lizzie. Any updates?" Chase asked. "No." Was all Lizzie replied.

Chase sighed. He and his team had been trying to bust a dangerous criminal gang for months now. They were always so close, but right as they closed in, the gang would disappear; as if they were never there. Chase had been assigned to find the leader of the gang. There was very little info on the leader, the only thing that Chase could find was a name; The Jester.

Chase figured that the name had to be a title, some sort of alter ego. Chase was very frustrated with the case, he felt like he knew nothing. He didn't even know the gender of the leader. Everyone at the station thinks the leader is male, but Chase on the other, believes the leader to be female.

But none of that mattered right now. Why? Because Chase received a tip that the leader was going to be at a club named, "The Rabbit Hole" tonight. The only other detail was that, the leader would be wearing a purple leather jacket, with a joker card printed on the back. That was all Chase needed.

"So..." Lizzie's voice came through the radio again.

"So?" Chase asked back.

"What are you gonna do when this is all over?"

Chased sighed, "I haven't really thought about it."

"Well, I think you deserve a break, you've worked harder on this than anyone else."

Chase smiled. "Thanks Lizzie."

Chase had never known why Lizzie entered the police force. She never gave a reason why, she just joined. When she joined, Chase was her mentor, the one who trained her. He taught her everything she knows. Everyone on the police force thought that Lizzie and Chase were best friends, (or possibly more) but that wasn't the case. They were partners, but they hardly knew each other. Chase didn't mind it though, he didn't like to talk and Lizzie hardly ever spoke; they made a perfect team.

"But, I was also wondering if you were doing anything tonight?" Lizzie asked, her voice full of hope.

Chase winced. He always knew that Lizzie had a thing for him, but he just didn't feel the same. Chase viewed Lizzie as a sister not a girlfriend.

Before Chase could answer her, something caught his eye. A flash of purple darted into the club. "Lizzie I gotta go, I think I saw The Jester."

Lizzie gasped. "No Chase! The chief said that no one was to pursue, we were just observing!"

"I'm sorry Lizzie, but I have to. I might never get this chance again." With that, Chase left his car and ran toward the club.

He pulled his hoodie hood up over his head and put his hands in his pockets. He walked up to the door, a large guard stood there. The man looked Chase up and down, Chase gulped. To his surprise, the man let Chase in.

Chase sighed as he walked in. Loud music insulted his ears, he hated parties. He looked around trying to act casual. He ordered a drink at the bar, while waiting someone sat next to him. He glanced over and gulped. Sitting next to him was a beautiful woman. Her hair was a blonde with purple highlight pixie with long bangs, she had soft lavender eyes, and a purple diamond painted overtop her left eye.

"Hun, take a picture it'll last longer." She smirked.

His eyes got big. He didn't realize that he was staring. He chuckled, "Sorry."
