I was sitting near a vending machine outside after school was once again over. I was in a Hawaiian shirt, which had a color gradient ranging from blue to purple, and some plain jeans, drinking a cold espresso coffee. Yeah, yeah. I know it's not good to drink coffee when your sleep schedule is already fucked. Bite me.
However, my tranquility was soon interrupted when that guy Kanji came near me along with his buddies. I have nothing against those guys, but man would it kill them to give me some alone time? I've had a lot to think about now that I've found out that the school was screwing us over. Even if a week has passed already, I can't just shake the thought.
"What's with you moping here all alone?" Kanji asked me.
"Moping..? I'm just enjoying some quality alone time with myself. I get tired of you guys sometimes." They probably felt insulted by that, could care less though. I'd rather be blunt and honest about my feelings toward people. I think honesty is one of the highest forms of respect a person can receive, even if it's not always what they want to hear.
"Ah, geez! What did we do to you?"
"...You guys have something important to ask or is this just an attempt to get me to socialize with you?" Who knows, maybe they actually had something interesting to say...
"Well, there is one question we wanted to ask you."
"Go on." I swear if it's something to do with girls or Suzune-
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
...
I. Swear. To. God. And I'm a fucking atheist!
I sighed at their expense. But smiled at them nonetheless.
"Guys, if I had a girlfriend, would I really be sitting here by myself?" They looked at each other and saw my point. Thanks once again for reminding me that I'm not very well known here. It's hard to upbuild your reputation from a total zero.
"...You do have a point. We simply thought you'd be dating Horikita by now." Ha! She looks that easy to you?
"So did I. Tough shit." I took another sip of my drink, which was nearly finished already.
"She rejected you?" Ken asked me, crossing his arms.
"Heh, she rejects everyone." That wasn't me coping, that was a genuine fact. She has not made one single friend so far. It honestly kinda worries me.
"It's surprising you two don't get along. You always talk to each other during class quietly. Were you mumbling sweet nothings to each other or something?" If sweet nothings were the equivalent of death threats, sure. And they weren't from my side, rather, Suzune's.
...It's kind of hot.
...
Oops, I'm daydreaming again.
"Nah, Horikita ain't the easy type. Which is why I like her in the first place."
"Definitely seems so. We haven't really talked to each other. If not for Kushida, we probably wouldn't even know what her name was. She doesn't talk, it feels like she's not even there most of the time." Okay, you need to stop giving me depressive comments. Like, I get it, she's a loner, but you don't have to make it sound sadder than it actually is.
"...Not knowing her name? Damn, she has it bad then."
"Then I'm guessing you know all your classmate's names?" Hoh, I know way more than that, my dear Ken.
Course, I don't know all of them, but I could have a list with a simple touch of a button. But do I care to learn all of them? We'll see in the future, I guess.
