Castiel was down when the ship set sail again, their time on land had been far too short and he wasn't much looking forward to the same scenery for the next few months until their next rest bite. He had assumed that this adventure was going to be a lot more thrilling, but to his disappointment, his only run in with a pirate hadn't been all that scary. Mainly because the pirate was more preoccupied in getting new members of his crew than a few vagabonds and a merchant creeping away from him in the middle of the day. Didn't hurt that the man was oozing sexual appeal which Castiel was finding it hard to shake from his head. If he wasn't careful he would wake up in a pool of slick, and he didn't think Gabriel and Crowley would be too happy about that.

A part of Cas wished that they could have applied for the crew themselves, but they would have looked like a joke compared to the actual pirates and sailors in their midst who were all extremely eager to join the captains crew. Castiel reckoned he would make a great pirate... probably.

As the boat bobbed away yet again upon the waves, and Gabriel was once again being sick off the side (mainly because of all the treats he had consumed on shore), Cas was beginning to regret his decisions. What was his plan when they finally landed in the last port? What was he going to do for money after they ran out? Crowley would easily be able to get a job as a cook at some inn or a manor house, but Cas and Gabriel couldn't rely on Crowley for everything. They had to make their own way in the world, it was only that Cas didn't really know what direction that was going to be.

A few more uncomfortable nights went by bobbing along the ocean, and Castiel was getting restless. He had made good friends with some of the younger apprentices of the ship. Some were learning about sailing, others training to be merchants. They played card games every now again, but Castiel started to feel uncomfortable when they started asking him about his 'burn'. Once they became comfortable with him, they wouldn't stop asking him how he got it and what had happened. Castiel hadn't really thought that much into it. He only said about being in a house fire and then believed that that would be the end of the conversation. But apparently not.

So, Castiel was currently avoiding the other young boys on the ship and hid himself away in their bunker, flicking through a book that he had brought with him that he was already quickly getting tired of. He had only brought two and had already read each of them twice over throughout their journey. There were loud voices on deck but Castiel was a professional when it came down to blocking out voices, especially ones that were loud and annoying. The footsteps above him though, that was a new noise he had to learn to block out. He sighed and whacked his book shut, slowly standing up and stretching. He had no idea what time it was, and thought that perhaps taking a walk on deck would help him find out where the sun was in the sky.

He walked up the stairs and opened the door to the top deck but was surprised to see a lot more bodies on board than they originally had. It took a few seconds for Castiel to realise what was going on, but as soon as he did, he ducked down and hurried over towards Gabriel who was hidden behind some barrels. Crowley was there too and he put a finger to his lips when Castiel reached them, and peered over the barrels at what was going on. Castiel did the same and recognised the pirate captain that had appeared in the tavern, and Cas gasped.

"How did he reach us so quickly? We easily had a day on him." Castiel hissed and Crowley shook his head and looked tapped on the barrel. He frowned and lifted the lid, looked inside and quickly looked at Gabriel and Castiel.

"Get in." He says quietly and they both look back at him as if he was the craziest son of a bitch on the ocean. "Quickly!"

They do as he says, and slip into the large barrels. They were filled with some clothing but not to the very top. It was uncomfortable and tight but Cas managed to wiggle around in order to fit. Crowley struggles a bit more with his due to him being slightly taller and wider that the other two, but manages it. He puts the lids on the boys barrels first before slipping down into his own.
