Shuichi's P.O.V.
It was faint, but I heard it. My name. From someone in the street? But who would recognize me, of all people?
A little wary, I turn around. Scanning the crowd, my detective training kicks in instinctively. Don't make yourself noticeable when someone is looking for you. I'm almost tempted to reach into my backpack and pull out my hat, but I don't. Something is off. And then--
"Shuichi!"
My eyes widen and fill with tears as I hear my name cried out. I know whose voice that is. But that's impossible-
I frantically start shoving my way through the crowd, searching. Where are you?! Please, please, please-
And then I see her.
"Kaede!"
The cry rips its way out of my throat before I even think. I can see her now. Crying, frantically trying to search through the crowd, but the throngs of people keep pushing her back. What is she doing?! She's going to be trampled; I have to reach her!!
How is this possible?! I saw- no. It doesn't matter. All that matters is that she's alive, she's here, she's-
I lock my eyes onto the flash of golden hair as I push my way through the crowd, desperately trying to reach her. She's trying to reach me too, but the crowd is pushing us every which way. No! I'm going to lose her! I can't lose her again! Please, please, please--
She's struggling, but she's losing. I can see her sinking into the crowds. Her frantic cries make more tears spring to my eyes as they reach my ears. No! She's so close!! I don't even hear the sounds of protest as I force my way through the sea of people.
Just a little more-
Just five feet ahead of me, I can see her reaching out her hand. I reach out too, straining.
So close- just a little more-
My fingertips brush against her wrist and I immediately take hold of it and pull her in and-
Oh.
I never realized how much I missed holding her in my arms.
