I suddenly yawn loudly which makes Ally jump. We've been walking for hours, and we finally found a place to rest. It's not the most comfortable situation, but for right now, I think it'll do.
I rustle around in the hay until I finally find a position that gives me some type of comfort.
"You good?" I hear Ally ask in a soft whisper. I look into her bright green gaze and nod. She smiles before she leans down next to me to rest. Chip's tail grazes across my leg as I finally sink into a light doze.
I sit up with a jolt. I immediately recognize the burning cramp in my neck as I stretch to get up. My eyes widen at what's in front of me. It's a silhouette of a woman. She seems to be. . . glowing. Her dark skin becomes a soft golden orange, and her figure turns messy as the light reflects across her body. Then, a bright flash of light appears. I close my eyes and turn away, then it disappears as fast as it had come.
Ally is awake as well, and she appears to have the same reaction. Her eyes are bright with curiosity at the sight of the unknown woman. She reaches over unconsciously and grabs my arm and tugs it. I touch her fingers and she looks at me. We then both get up and dust ourselves down.
"Look." A light, hollow voice instructs. I jump at the sound, looking around to see who spoke. No one was by us, however. Weird.
Me and Ally rush to obey. We look in all of the directions before our gaze stops in one particular corner.
I spot a dark figure down the hallway, close to the entrance. I squint at the silhouette, determined to find out who it is.
Then it hits me.
Lily!
From where we're standing, she looks bruised and battered. I rush to help her, but I stop myself at the sudden realization that she disappeared from sight.
I shoot up from the hay mattress in dismay. I rub my eyes in disbelief. Ally does the same thing, determined to fault the dream.
"You saw that too?" Ally mutters. I nod. But what did it mean? I know it means something. Maybe when we find Lily, she can explain.
All I'm worried about right now, is finding the culprit.
And I'm sure that it's Lord Asher.
"What's going on?" I hear a voice call. I turn around to see Peanut hopping on the hay.
"Oh, er-" I stutter. I look at Ally, waiting for approval. Instead of nodding her head, she shakes it. I immediately got the message.
"Nothing." I say with a smile.
"Really?" Peanut asks with a doubtful look on her face. I stroke her head lightly.
"Yes really." I reply.
"Let's get moving again. Maybe we'll finally find some answers." Ally interrupts. She catches my gaze for a few brief seconds before we stand up to get moving again. I hand Chip and Peanut to Ally and she gently tucks them into her sweatshirt pocket. After quickly checking with Ally, we start to head into the halls of the lair.
