Coco, do you dare tell me what happened?" Asher asked the bird with clenched teeth.
"Er, you could." Coco stutters.
"Is this your way of telling me our crew won?" Asher asks suspiciously.
"Maybe I'm trying to tell you. . . the opposite," Coco says in a quiet voice.
"Opposite?" Asher asks.
"I-It means that I'm trying to tell you the other reason. The one you might not like." Coco says, rather bravely. She sat cross-eyed on the broken dresser in one of the bedrooms of the old mansion they inhabited.
"So you're telling me. . that they lost to those gruesome teenagers?" Asher roars. His fierce breath made Coco flinch as her feathers started to ruffle.
"It gets worse," Coco says.
"Oh just spit it out already!"
"Okay. Bones got killed, which means that they have the powers of the portal." Coco rushes.
"Great. Just great. So now you're telling me we lost to stupid teenagers, and Bones is dead? And to add along with that, his powers are now in the hands of them?" Asher roared.
"I suppose that is what I'm trying to tell you, sire," Coco says, exhaling a heavy sigh.
"Why are you sighing like this is a good thing? Are you aware that two pesky rats just beat the most feared crew in the whole Fantasy world?" Asher roars, now infuriated.
"I'm well aware. I'm sure there was some mistake-"
"Oh, I'm sure there was. They probably think I'll be afraid of them after they beat us. I only have grown. . . er, what is that m-word?" Asher asks quietly.
"Oh, you're talking about motivation." Coco offers.
"Yes. That word! Anyhoo," He says, deepening his voice up again. "I only have grown motivation to destroy them harder." He says. A laugh creeps into his throat, his voice dripping with malice. Coco follows suit, her wings acting as a cape, covering her beak.
Suddenly, Asher screams, "AHA! I found it!"
"Er, found what, Sire?"
"Don't you listen, idiot bird? The book I have been looking for. The book I used to transfer some of my power to Bones. To transfer more of my portal power to the other members of the Crew."
"Ah, yes sir. I didn't know that you lost it though." Coco says to him.
"Yes, I did. Then I found it. It was in that pile of moldy clothing," Asher says, pointing northeast in a revolting smelling corner, "And now, we will be able to defeat those soon-to-be four teenagers!"
"Don't worry sire, we'll beat them soon enough-"
"I wasn't worrying- I don't worry. And, I know we will. Those 'heroes' will finally get into my grasp this time." Asher says.
"Right, right." She says. "I'm just ignoring the fact you've said that for months now-" Coco mutters quietly.
"We will get them," Asher says, satisfied with his answer. Then, Coco waves goodbye and flies off into the dead of night, the moon making her dull, wicked eyes sparkle as she takes sight of four figures rushing through the crisp edges of a moon-lit forest.
