Ayla watches in amazement as the creature makes short work of the metal elevator doors.
They're on the ground level now.
It's dark.
They've evacuated everyone.
"Ground troops ready!"
They hear someone shout outside.
"Ah crap."
Ayla mutters.
The remainder of Keepers forces are outside the door.
2 armored tanks.
Armed men are outside posted strategically behind cement dividers.
Keepers stands among them.
The three of them have made the same calculations.
The creature went back to save him.
But if they try to escape, there's little chance Ayla walks away alive.
There's only one door.
The phone rings at a desk.
Ayla walks over.
"I met your kid."
Bruce looks at Keepers standing 300 feet away with a death stare.
"He loves dinosaurs I can't believe you didn't tell him about your big friend."
"What do you want, Keepers?"
He asks coldly.
"I really don't want to kill my asset. He's the only one like him we got. He truly is one of a kind.
You on the other hand, I can make a dozen of you at the tip of a hat."
He says calmly.
"What do you want?"
Ayla's voice is more stern this time.
"I want you to surrender. I have Grace and Alan out here with me. Surrender and they walk."
G183 looks over at His friend, and back at Keepers.
He knows they're talking.
His body language suggests Keepers is nervous about something.
He can tell from here.
Keepers tries to hide his nerves as the monster steps into the light.
It's night outside.
11 PM.
Past Alan's bedtime.
Ayla gets vary nervous all of a sudden, even more so than he already was.
Keepers can demand his surrender but he seems to forget Bruce cannot control the beast.
No one can.
After taking a few casual steps outside on all fours, he sits down like a dog.
His tail curls around him and it's end is sharpened to a point.
It rattles confidently before settling on the ground.
Keepers grimaces.
It's toying with him.
Taunting him.
To make things worse, it locks eyes with him.
Mikel Keepers is not one to look for a fight.
But he is not someone to back down when challenged.
He is brave and strong when he needs to be.
Right now he needs that and a lot more.
He stares back.
"What's it going to be, Captain?"
He asks.
"I'm coming out."
He finally responds.
Blood pumps to his head and his nerves are on fire.
There's a knot in his stomach.
Still, he walks out and stands beside his beastly friend.
For a moment, there's a staring contest.
Through his quills he can sense movement behind them.
They're surrounded.
"They're not moving. Play the song."
Keepers says.
A song starts to play.
"No."
The creature thinks to himself.
They used music to brainwash him.
Doctor Chapman programmed him to respond to music.
Keepers is hoping to exploit this.
"We were playing in the sand"
This angers the creature.
"No."
Every single time he killed, he heard that song in his head.
Every verse reminds him of a person who's life he ended.
He remembers the abilities Chapman told him about.
In his mind the gears are turning, formulating a plan
He runs through every possible scenario.
In most the Captain dies.
But one of them, one of them has his attention.
Ayla will not be their main concern.
They all know they're there for the monster.
The man they can kill, but the monster, they're not so sure.
The song continues to anger him.
He fights the temptation to give in to rage.
In a swift motion he wraps his tail around the Captain and hurls him into the air.
They point their guns up.
He charges.
"Leave him!"
Keepers shouts.
Immediately they train their guns on him instead.
Bullets fly.
Rockets are fired.
The beast rages on through smoke and fire shrugging off bullets and flames.
He dodges left and right as the tanks unleash a fury of cannon fire and explosive rounds.
Grace and her son duck their heads.
Every single gunshot makes her heart pound fast and harder.
She feels it beating in her chest.
In her mind she thinks of her husband.
For all she knows, he just got tossed in the air by a monster and shot by several dozen soldiers.
Little does she know, Ayla is fighting his way over to her.
A kick sends a soldier flying.
He turns and smacks the gun from another's hands before following with a punch that knocks the man to the ground.
He grabs the rifle and shoots 3 men before hurling it.
One of the soldiers stands atop a small platform with a grenade launcher.
Just as he takes aim the rifle slams into his head knocking him unconscious.
Ayla snatches the grenade launcher from the air and fires at the treads of one of the tanks.
The explosion damages the movement of the armored vehicle.
The barrel of the tank immediately turns.
Ayla freezes in place, staring down the barrel of the cannon.
3 men aim their guns at him from behind.
The monster appears from the hail of gunfire and smoke.
He snatches Ayla and curls his arm to cover his head and Ayla from the blast.
The cannon is fired.
The explosive shell erupts from the barrel at high speed.
G183 responds almost quicker than his mind can process.
An action that is entirely reflex and instinct.
His tail slams into the shell, deflecting the explosive and sending it flying off into the distance.
Recovering quickly from the impact he grabs into the barrel.
It snaps off in his hands.
Turning, he leaps into the air and spears it into the steel hide of the armored vehicle.
Keepers shields himself.
Bewildered he watches in amazement.
"Damn."
He mutters.
Now he's starting to get afraid.
"Chapman did a good job."
He thinks to himself.
Admitting to himself he had clearly underestimated this beast.
The beast locks eyes with him.
A mans body slams into the remaining tank.
Keepers turns just as his body hits the ground.
Ayla lumbers towards Keepers with rage in his eyes.
Grace and Alan smile as they see their father and husband approaching.
Keepers draws his fist back for a punch.
Ayla flinches, remembering the last punch that laid him out.
But the punch never lands.
Keepers looks up.
Wrapped around his wrist is the beasts tail.
The three of them stand there in silence.
There's 17 of Keepers men still left standing.
All of them stand holding guns trained on G183.
"Release me, creature."
Keepers growls.
It's grip tightens in defiance.
His amber eyes narrow with anger.
Keepers stares back, trying to hide the fear behind his eyes.
"You're going to give me my family. And you're going to let us walk free."
He turns to Ayla.
"You're in no position to make demands, Bruce."
He looks up at the only tank left.
It turns to point it's cannon directly at G183's head.
The beast looks up.
"And I've had enough of you, monster."
Keepers, Ayla, everyone is knocked off their feet by the blast.
At point blank range, the explosive round is lethal to any living thing on the planet.
The boom is deafening.
Ayla's vision goes blurry as he hits the ground.
He sees his friend's body skid across the pavement, his skull still smoking as he tumbles.
