Tide laid down, his wings exhausted. They had finally managed to get a safe distance from the other dragons, almost fighting their way out. He'd never flown in such a rush. He could still feel his heart beating, images of the dragons he'd dodged to get away. He was almost taken down by a SkyWing, but she didn't expect Coast to smash her side with her powerful tail. It almost made him smile, for they were all a great team.
He looked up to see the others laying down as well. Thorn curled up next to Coast, who was next to the already sleeping Seabass. Tide couldn't help but smile, they were all safe, for now at least. But he savored the moments they weren't almost killed. He rested his head, feeling Drought brush past him. "Don't worry, I'll keep watch for now." He spoke silently, quietly brushing past Cliffwater. He seemed almost scared of her, but who wouldn't? Until you get to know her, of course. She's a MudWing, so, she can be a little intimidating. By looks, at least. He nodded silently and Drought went and sat ahead of him, looking at the stars. They were ahead of the others, since they were fighting. But Drought was keeping watch and was to wake them to hide when they come.
Slowly, Tide drifted off to sleep.
............................................................
The smell of fish filled Tides snout. He was walking around the shore, Coast behind and Seabass ahead. Except something was different. They were even younger dragonets, by the age of 8. They'd just been able to sneak past their mothers and venture off on land. Tide turned back to scan the ocean for activity. Coast was to watch behind to make sure no one would catch them and usher them back to the sea, but she got easily distracted with who knows what. She quickly looked away from him, thinking he was looking at her. He shrugged and turned back to see Seabass' tail. It was swaying here and there, making slither marks like a snake on the sand.
"Seabass." His little voice drowned out the sound of squishy sand. "Mother will find us with that trail you're making." Seabass turned back and snorted. He lifted his tail higher up, so it wouldn't drag. Tide smiled cheerfully and ran ahead. Lightly pushing Seabass to the sand. Coast giggled and ran past him too. They laughed as Seabass chased them here and there across the sand. They ran and ran until they saw a huge arch. It led into a cave and looked like a dragons' wing. "Wow!" Tide slowed his pace and let Coast run past him. She squeaked out in excitement. "Wow wow WOW!!" She bounced up and down. "Let's make it our secret hideout!" Tide brightened up, bouncing after her. "Yeah! And, and we could call it....uhm, we could call it Wing place! Like our own kingdom!" Coast thought for a moment, blushing."Nah, lets call it something better..."
"What about... Dragons' Wing!?" He climbed a small, but big to him, rock and sat.
"Yeah! I like it! Sounds like... a nursery!"
"Yeah! Where big brother was hatched!!" He bounced up and made a toothy, well...almost toothy, smile. His big brother, Fin, was very brave. He could fly and he let Tide ride on his back when he did, but that was when he was smaller, but he still gets to have fun every once in a while. "You mean where we were all hatched." Seabass said gloomily as he watched them climb rocks. "Yeah, Mama said, we were born in the... the... other one!" He happily nodded, answering his own question.
Coast smiled at his expression. She crept down the rock, going carefully to making sure she doesn't fall. He was just about to also when he heard his mothers voice. "Tide. Coast. Seabass. Come on, its not safe out here, come back." She sounded slightly worried, but kind all the same to Tide. "Comeing, mother!" Tide rushed down, catching himself before he slid. "Uhh..." Just then, Tide heard wingbeats. A green SeaWing landed infront of Tide. A huge smile went across his face. "Big brother!!" He jumped on instinct, and caught his talon in a sliver. "OOF!" He slammed into the rock and skid to the floor with a thump.
Fin immediately went to his brother. He was lying still on the floor. Nothing seemed to be wrong. "Tide..? Hey, Buffy, you OK?" He lifted him with his talon and felt something wet, and warm. He turned him over and a gash on Tides side revealed itself. He looked at the rock, and saw a shard of rock sliced him as he slid. "M-Mother!!" He shouted, clutching him to his chest. "Mom! MOM COME QUICK!" The screams echo'd over and over. Things went dark, the cries of help from his brother continued, slowly fading in his head. "Mom..." Tide whispered. "It's okay, big guy. Hold on..." was the last thing he heard before he woke up with a fright. He looked up and saw the other staring at him, Cliffwater had the most worried expression.
He felt his cheek, and notice he was crying. "What...? What is it..?" He asked, knowing exactly what it was. "Did you have a nightmare...?" Coast asked worriedly.
"No. Just a memory."
