The whole ride home was spent by Katy's mom yelling at her ignorant son and him snapping back with rude remarks.

"I was just trying to help her!" he finally screamed.

"You didn't have to start a fight with the stupid idiot!" she screamed back. I wanted all of the screaming to stop. My parents were screaming before they died.

What had happened was mom was screaming at dad while he was driving. The more she screamed at him, the more he screamed at her. Don't get me wrong, they loved each other. They just had a problem with money. That's all they would talk, more like scream, about. Money. Bills. Anything to do with money. In the midst of all of their yelling, dad had taken his eyes off of the road. He saw that a deer had walked into the road. He dodged it by swerving. When he swerved, the car started tumbling and rolling down a hill. It would all be fine if there wasn't a freaking tree at the bottom of the hill. Anyway, the car hit the tree and somehow killed my parents. I was nine then.

I remember at the hospital, I had breathing tubes, IV's, heart moniters, everything. The scene of swerving, tumbling, crashing, and seeing my dead parents lay lifeless in the front seat always played over and over in my head. I didn't sleep much, and when I did, I had nightmares about the crash.

"Hannah." Katy's voice had snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Huh?" I asked while looking at her. She was out of the car with the door open looking back at me.

"Get out of the car. We're home" with that she closed the car door and walked up the short staircase that lead to the porch. She opened the door and went inside. I unbuckled my seat belt and sat there for a few minutes. Gathered my thoughts. I finally opened the car door and stepped out. I heard a strang noise coming from the side of the house. I walked over to where the noise was coming from. It was Alex. He was climbing out of his second story bedroom window.

"How are you going to get down?" I asked while looking up. He didn't have a ladder so I don't know why he was even trying to sneak out.

"I was kind of hoping you'd catch me." He said looking down at me. Dang. This boy looked good from every angle, didn't he?

"No, Seriously? You don't have anything to climb down with."

"I was being serious. You're gonna catch me, right?" He asked looking down at me yet again.

"Are you really gonna trust your body weight on a person, like myself, that is much smaller than you?" I asked and crossed my arms.

"UH! Is that a fat joke?" he asked while trying to imitate a woman. After he said that, he jumped from the window and landed on his feet, stumbled a little, then regained is balance.

"Where are you going anyway?" I asked as he walked past me and headed towards the back yard. By curiosity, I followed him.

We headed to the back yard and through some trees that divided us from the woods. We walked for about a mile and reached a shed that looked like it used to be a club house that everyone dreamed of having as a little kid.

"What is this?" I asked while circling the aged shed.

"This," he said opening his arms and pausing for dramatic affect, "used to be my kingdom. This is where I would go when I was little if I needed to get away from everyone. This is where I would hide out and play hide-and-seek with my friends."

I started slowly clapping but was interupted.

"Shh. I'm not done." he said putting his pointer finger on my lips.

He opened his arms again and said "this, was my childhood, and we're going inside of it right now." Before I could say anything, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me to the door of the building. He truned the nob of the door and opened it, surprised that it was unlocked. Alex stepped inside and his eyes instantly lit up. He had the biggest smile known to man kind on his face. It was like watching a little kid open a present on Christmas morning.

I stepped inside and looked aroud the small club house. It had bright blue walls and hard wood floors. There was what seemed to be a reading spot in the corner with a couple of bookshelves and a green rug. There was a toy chest, and a kid's drum kit next to it. He saw that I was looking at it and went and sat on the minature stool.

When he sat on the stool, it broke causing him to crash onto the floor and shaking the shed. I let out a small laugh and he slowly stood up.

"Oh my god." He said in a panicked voice.

"What is it Alex?" I asked walking over to where he was. He had this dead cold expression on his face. His lips turned into a fine line and his jaw clenched.

"You need to leave" he said in a stern voice, not taking his eyes off of whatever it was that he was looking at.

"But-"

"Now." He interupted. "Leave now."

"Okay then." I mumbled under my breath and walked out of the shed and back to the house with the fastest pace that I could acquire. I wanted to get as far away from it as possible. But, what made him change so suddenly? I pushed the thought away as I walked up the stairs and into the house.
