Chapter Fourteen: The Chase

Few days later....

We were going to play baseball in the middle of a thunderstorm. I didn't know why though especially in a thunderstorm. Rosalie and Alice gave me some clothes to wear for the game. The outfit fitted me perfectly.

We all met at a huge field. Bella, Esme, and I were going to make sure that nobody cheats. I told Jasper good luck. He told me that I was his good luck charm. Emmet was raring to go. Thunder struck. "Its time," Alice said.

Alice thew the ball and Rosalie swung the bat with alot of force on the ball. It impact sounded like thunder strike. "Okay, I see now why you need the thunder," Bella said. Now I knew as well. It would have caused much curiosity and draw attention if they played during normal weather.

The game went on for a while. I saw Alice frozen in place in a daze. She turned towards the woods. "Stop," she yelled out. Everyone started to run towards us. Jasper came quickly for me. "We need to get you both out of here," he said. I didn't ask any questions. "They were leaving and they heard us," Alice said. {They?} "Lets go," Edward said to Bella as they tried to leave the field. Carlisle cut him off. "Its too late," Carlisle said. I could see Edward thinking.

Edward told Bella to put her hair down. "Like that would help. I could smell her from across the field," Rosalie said in a annoyed tone. Jasper told me to put my hair down as well. "What ever you do, don't draw attention to yourself and stay with Esme. I need to stand in front since I am one of the strongest one in the family," he said. I nodded my head. I felt really scared. I made my way next to Esme. Esme gave me a small smile.

Carlisle stood in the front while the others tried to cover us a bit. In the mist came out three people. I knew that they were vampires because their eyes were blood red.

The African/Jamaican looking vampire gave the baseball back. Carlisle caught it with ease despite the force. "Thank you," Carlisle said. "I am Laurent and this is Victoria and James," Laurent introduced to us. "I'm Carlisle and this is my family," Carlisle introduced. "Hello," Laurent said. I could see Jasper staring down at James and the other vampires.

"Your hunting activities were causing a mess for us," Carlisle said to Laurent. Laurent apologized to Carlisle. Laurent asked for one game. Carlisle said that they were welcome to take a few of our places. He meant that Edward and Jasper could take Bella and I to safety.

Then, the wind blew towards the vampires. I froze tense a bit. They were going to know that we were humans by our scent. Just then, James turned sinister. "You brought a snack," he said. James started to charge and crouch at Bella. Jasper and Edward pushed us back and crouched in front of us. Carlisle and the others crouched in front of us as well. Esme stood in front of us. Laurent and Victoria came and crouched. This was turning scary.

"The girls are with us. I think its best that you leave," Carlisle warned. James and Victoria kept their eyes on Bella. Soon, they left us. "Get Bella and Eve out of here. Go," Carlisle said. Quickly, Jasper and Edward got us to the jeep. Jasper helped me into the jeep. Edward helped Bella and we drove off very quickly.

{Whats going to happen now?}

Edward started to explain that James was a tracker. "His hunt was his obsession," he said. James was going to hunt Bella down. Edward wanted to get Bella far away, but she said that she had to go home. On the way, Edward dropped me off at my apartment. Jasper walked me to my apartment and opened the door. He told me to pack. He called Rosalie to pick us up.

Rosalie picked us up and we drove to the house. Edward and Bella were already there and we saw Laurent. I quickly hid behind Jasper and Jasper crouched with his teeth showing. Carlisle told him to calm down. Laurent came to warn us.

We all walked to the garage where the cullens had many cars. "I had to fight our kind before, but they are not easy to kill," Jasper said. "Yeah but, not impossible. We'll tear them apart and burn the pieces," Emmet said. We needed a plan.

Edward wanted to drive Bella south but, James would know that Edward wouldn't be separated from Bella. So the plan was that Jasper and Alice would drive us south. "How come they didn't come for me as well?" I asked. "Your scent must have been masked by the outfit," Carlisle said. I nodded my head. "But, as a safety percussion, you need to go with them as well," Carlisle said. I nodded my head.

Bella and I sat in the back while Alice and Jasper were in the front.Edward distributed Rosalie and Esme our clothes. They were going to spread out scent up north. "Why? I know what Beverly is to me but, what is she to me?" Rosalie said. "Rosalie. Bella is with Edward. She is part of this family now and we protect our family," Carlisle said. Rosalie lowered her resistance and took the jackets.

We were heading towards Arizona. Bella informed her mother through a message on her phone that she was not at Forks. When we got to Phoenix, we got a hotel room. I needed the rest. I saw Alice go in a daze. I knew she was seeing a vision. She started to draw her vision.

Bella recognized the picture. It was a ballet studio. "You've been here?" Alice asked her. "I took lessons as a kid. The school that I went to had an arch like that," Bella said. It was here. Bella's phone buzz. It was a call from Edward. He was coming down to get her.

Bella got another phone call. She hung up her phone. Jasper and Alice went to the lobby to check out. I saw Bella sneaking her way out of the lobby. I decided to follow her. Jasper would know where I was through our bond.
