Tessa POV
After everyone left and cleaning Emery up, it was only me and Hardin left to clean the place up.
"No Hardin, I'm helping," I insists after Hardin tells me to rest and wait for him to be done.
"No Tessa." He stands his ground. "You're not helping."
"Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean I won't be able to do anything."
"You won't be doing nothing, you would be putting Emery to bed," Hardin smirks. In the corner of my lips, a smile perks open. Sometimes I enjoy arguing with him because I love the attention.
"But I'm pregnant," I pout.
He leans over and gives me a passionate kiss before going over to the closet where our cleaning supplies are kept.
I walk over to Emery's room, where she is. She's waiting for me to tuck her into bed.
"Hey sweetie," I say once I enter.
"Hey mommy." She throws her already destroyed dolls across the room and runs to her bed.
I laugh. "What are you doing to your dolls?"
"I don't like them."
I look at them across the room, and they're covered in marker marks and their hair has been cut everywhere.
"Did you have fun today?" I ask her, sitting on the bed.
She nods. "Yeah, it was fun. Me and Addy followed Emmitt and Abby around and they both found it annoying, but it was funny for us." By the way she talks, I already know she's going to be like me academically.
"Well, I'm glad you did. It probably wasn't for them though."
"Yeah," she agrees.
"What do you want for a story?" I ask her. We have a lot of children's books, but she prefers stories about me or Hardin's childhood. The happy parts of it.
"Hmm," she hesitates. "How about how you and Daddy met?"
I smile to myself. "Do you really want to hear about that?"
Emery nods.
"I was only wrapped in a towel because I came from the bathroom, and in my room was Daddy." Retelling it to our daughter was euphoric. I remember a time when I didn't think we would be together because of our problems. Now, we're married and I am about to give birth to our second child.
"Why was he in your room? Was Grandma there? Why was Daddy there?"
Oh I don't think she'll know what a dorm room is and the reason why Hardin was there. "I was in college and I had a dorm room. Daddy was in there because my roommate was friends with him," I explained.
I looked at her, and a confused look overcame her face. I don't think she understood what dorms were. "What did Daddy look like."
He was, and still is the most fucking beautiful person I've ever seen. "The same as always, except more hair," I sighed. His hair was so long and I love rubbing my hands through his curls. Not that I don't like his hair right now, just that the sides are sort of shaved and the top is cut.
"What about you, Mommy? What did you look like back then?"
The door opens suddenly. "She was, and still is the prettiest fucking sight I have ever seen," Hardin says.
I give him the, watch-your-language look, but my eyes soften when we said those words. I can never get enough of him.
"So then that means Auden is going to be pretty too," Emery says, her tiny hand touching my stomach.
"You are also beautiful, Emery," Hardin snuggles with us. Her bed is a twin sized, and I'm close to the edge, but from the side I am, behind me is the wall. Hardin, though, has a risk for falling.
Me and Hardin wrap our hands around Emery and each other. He caresses above my elbows. I hide myself behind Emery's light blonde hair.
I kiss her cheek and Hardin smells her head, a weird but sweet thing he does. It's become normal now. It's like kissing the top of her head.
"I love you Mommy and Daddy, always," Emery calmly states, before falling asleep.
