The two partners got up to their room and got their luggage at aside. Nick seemed pleased with himself ever since Johnny had left. "So, Nick. What's your deal with Johnny anyway?" Nick paused, thinking. He then started going down a list on his fingers. "Well, first off, he's a gorilla. Secondly, he is suspiciously nice. Hm, what am I missing? Oh! Our mission is to stop a gang of, what was it again? Oh that's right, gorillas!" He said in a mock tone. Judy threw her pillow at him, rolling her eyes. "Just go to bed Nick."
The two got into their separate beds and Judy tried to go to sleep. Moments later Nick spoke in the darkness. "I just worry you'll get all buddy buddy with someone you might have to arrest later. That's all." He sighed. She ignored him, pulling the covers over her head.
Johnny sped down the streets, music blaring. He pulled up at the old garage and got out, grabbing his skateboard and going in. The place was empty, which was unusual this time of night. His dad and some of the others gang members usually hung out in the garage, joking... plotting. Johnny rolled his eyes and scoffed at the thought. He didn't particularly care for what his dad did for a living, but there was not much he could say. Recently, his dad had made him part of the gang. Not his idea but he didn't want to disappoint his dad. It didn't really matter though, the rest of the gang still treated him like he was a child, that he couldn't do anything.
"They're probably right about that..." Johnny said aloud, setting his board down and walking over to the punching bag. He sighed glumly and began doing some light punches on the bag, his heart not really in it. He suddenly thought about Judy, and his smile returned. Though she was a cop, he thought that the two of them had made a connection of sorts. He began pummeling the bag in quick repetition, playing the fight with the pigs back in his head. He thought about how impressed Judy had been, which gave him a burst of energy.
He got into it, each strike rougher than the last, and never off aim. He laughed to himself, and began talking out loud to himself. It was a relatively new habit, made from all the time he spent alone. "Take that! And that!" He hopped around the bag, keeping himself nimble as he took more swings. He punched again and the worn bag busted, sand pouring on the concrete floor. He cheered. "Did you see that Judy? How cool was that?" He laughed ecstatically before pausing and realizing what he had just said.
He glanced around the empty garage. "Wow... I think I've gone crazy. But I wonder what she would say if she was here?" Johnny began running through various scenarios as he cleaned up the sand. Would it be a 'good job!' With that adorable smile of hers? Or maybe-- Johnny lightly smacked himself on the cheek. "Stop thinking nonsense, Johnny." He scolded, then began to sing to distract himself from thinking about the bunny.
Suddenly, Johnny had a brilliant idea. He'd go back to the hotel and see her tomorrow. That fox friend of hers would probably be bitter about it but oh well. Johnny nodded to himself, back in high spirits.
The following morning, judy was already up and dressed, going about her morning routine. Nick had the pillow over his head, ignoring her while she repeatedly urged him to get up. "Come on Nick! Or I'm leaving without you!" Judy huffed in annoyance. Nick finally sat up and yawned groggily, only to be greeted by his uniform shirt thrown at his face. He groaned.
When the two finally got downstairs, the first challenge was awaiting. The front door. Nick looked at Judy and the two nodded to eachother. No one was in the hotel lobby at the moment, so Judy got up on Nick's shoulders and got up to the handle. She just happened to see something out of the corner of her eye, and turned to look at it. Johnny had just got off of his skateboard wand was walking to the door with a grin ear to ear.
"Set me down Nick, our hero had arrived." Judy chuckled. Nick didn't have to look to know who she meant. He could tell just by her bubbly tone that it was the gorilla from the night before.
Johnny opened the door and waved at the two. "Morning Judy, Morning Nick." He greeted while the two walked out. "Good morning to you too Johnny!" Judy beamed. Nick sighed and reluctantly looked up at Johnny. "Morning to you, Johnny-o. Thanks for getting the door." Judy looked at Nick, surprised but happy. Johnny nodded to Nick, not feeling as anxious as a minute prior. Both of the smaller animals were in uniform, which brought back the anxiety once Johnny noticed.
He didn't want to know the face his dad would make if he knew who he was hanging out with. "Well, thanks for getting g the door, Johnny. I'm glad I got to see you again this morning, but Nick and I have to go and start our case." Johnny nodded, holding back a disappointed sigh. "Well, good luck with that, I guess... what is it?" He asked, feeling curious. Nick was the first to respond. "Nothing much, we were sent here to investigate a gang of gorillas. You wouldn't know anything about that, would you?" Nick asked, raising a brow.
"Nope, nothing." Johnny replied quickly, doing his best not to avoid the fox's gaze. Judy sighed. She knew Nick wasn't going to be nice for long. Then she got an idea. "Nick, Johnny, why don't we all go for breakfast?" She suggested, Johnny looking over to her and nodding vigorously. "I'd like that very much!" He said cheerfully. Nick just groaned in defeat and nodded.
