I woke with a start, heaving and panting in my bed. Gripping onto the sheets, I watched as my blanket fell from me and I looked down to see a silky white dress with lace on me. Standing up, I stood in front of my circular mirror to look at the details of my outfit. It had a smooth white petticoat underneath the silk that reached my knees. My shoulders felt bare because it was strapless, and the torso was very lacy. My dress was tied to fit in the back by a large white bow. On the ground, I saw some white heels with a piece of paper on it. I unwrapped it and looked at the writing; it was another poem written by the same person. I could tell by the identical italic handwriting.
I took a seat on my bed, a little confused by the whole dress thing—it was probably for today’s event. I tried to forget about it.
Looking at the note, I read it to myself in my mind.
I will love you when the wind is free,
Forever in your heart,
Let it take me.
I will love you when the tide covers the shore,
I will give you my all,
And then even more.
I will love you still on my final bed,
Keep our memories
Tucked in your head.
I blushed a little, curious as to who wrote it. Could it have been Raymond? No, I’ve seen his two year old handwriting. Maybe it was Nikolay’s. No, he already clarified that he thought of me as a sister. I’m positive it wasn’t Eric because he’s married.
Was it you?
As I began to think about it, my body was shaking violently. Putting my heels on, the realization of me going to die finally sunk in. I was terrified now. I was going to die—I was too young to die.
What would my family say? Where would I go after I die? What if there isnt a Heaven or Hell?
My bedroom door opened and I shook more as Nikolay and Eric walked in. Eric fixed his dark shades and grunted. “It’s time, Zora.”
I clutched onto Rey and shook my head, backing up as they took a step near me. “No… No please don’t do this! Please don’t take me!” Tears began to well in my eyes and I stumbled back into my dresser. Eric took my hand gently.
“Please don’t make this any harder than it’s going to be.” He frowned a little before going back to his I’m-so-serious mode. I shook my head again and I bit my lip harshly. Nikolay took my by the arm and I tried to jerk away, failing as Eric took me by the other arm. I screamed and kicked, but after realizing that my kicks would do no damage to the boys, I fell victim to their grasps, holding Rey in my own grasp.
“We have to prepare you for the event.” Nikolay said, leading us out the door. Catching a glimpse of the HQ, it looks professional like the lobby of any company. Marble floors, plexiglass walls and a large, fish tank was used as a lobby desk. To the right of that were some comfortable looking red sofas.
Approaching the woman at the lobby desk, Eric leaned over. “We need someone to escort her to the Beauty and the Beast Suite. When she gets up there, have the escort tell Terra that she needs to get ready for the event today.”
“I’ll get that right away Mr. Chen.” The plain woman got up and slipped away to the back door.
“Your last name is Chen?!” Nikolay laughed, “So did people ever make fun of your when you were younger and call you by your full name?”
