It was morning here in Venice, Italy, and it was only you and I because Nikolay and Eric didn’t want to stay. My emotions were raw, and I had no more tears to shed. My eyes burned and I could no longer feel much.

Tourists easily stood out along the streets with no knowledge of Italian whatsoever. The grey cobblestone streets calmed me down as we walked, and you walked next to me, showing me around. “This is the Santa Croce area of Venice, Italy. It’s not much of a place where tourists go to because there’s not much to look at, but rather they pass though to get to other parts of Venice. It’s hard though to tell the difference between this district and the San Polo district because they are so close together.”

I took in the scent of the fresh Italian air before I wrinkled my nose at the scent of exhaust pipes.

“That’s the scent of the Piazzale Roma, it’s the main bus station here in Venice. You kind of get used to the scent after a while.” You looked down and gave Rey a gentle squeeze. You were still in your clothes from yesterday, and so was I. Apparently, Eric had found my shoes in the stairway and gave them back to me.

Looking around, I looked at the partially cloudy sky. I felt… a sense of freedom. The way the hues of sunlight licked my skin brought a sense of warmth for a moment. The birds san joyously in a melodic tune and everybody here seemed… happy.

“During the afternoon, it’s pretty barren here—it’s best for a good evening stroll if you ever want to take one. It’s also one of the more ancient parts of Venice—very beautiful indeed. The most famous places here are the Ca’ Pesaro, the Church of San Giacomo, and the Tolentini Church. There’s a lot of cute restaurants hidden in this district too, but some are pretty pricey—don’t worry though, my job has paid me well.” Stuffing Rey in your pocket, you stopped walking.

“Zora… please look at me.” You whispered. I stopped walking, staring down at my dress. Your hand gently coiled around my arm from behind and I spun around to look at you.

“Roivas! E 'passato così tanto tempo!” Someone said. From my knowledge of Assassin’s Creed and some Spanish, It sounded like “so much time has passed!”

We both looked at a handsome young man who was probably in his early twenties. He was tall and lean with a square jaw and a five o’clock shadow. His thin lips curled into a smile and I gazed up at his short, layered black hair and green apple eyes.

“Leonardo! Lei è uno spettacolo per gli occhi!” You exclaimed, smiling at the man before turning to me. “Zora, this is my best friend here in Venice, Leonardo Lombardi.”

My hand slipped away from yours to shake Leonardo’s, but instead, he hurled his arms around me before holding me away at an arm’s length and kissing both of my cheeks. “Your girlfriend is breathtaking Roivas!” He looked at me with shimmering eyes, “Sei la donna piu' bella che io abbia mai visto.

“Leo! Please not on her!” You scowled before straightening up. I wonder what he had said.

“Fine, fine,” he said with his attractive Italian accent, “I shall call you Topolina though!” He smirked. You glared at him.

“What does that mean?” I asked, looking up into his eyes,

His fingertips trailed along my jaw and he smiled, “It’s a pet name. It means, little mouse.”
