"We Met On A Train To Chicago"

The entire ride to the penthouse felt like an eternity to Giselle. Thomas held her hand as he gave Michael his undivided attention.  He definitely seemed very dominating in this moment. She was reposed, humiliated, sad, frightened and almost delusional as Thomas went on and on telling bits here and there of their life. Michael nodded listening, observing and pondering taking odd glances at the woman who he claimed to be heaven sent. What could Giselle say? Was it even possible to make Michael understand?  The way his eyes cut her was more than enough to believe it was over.  If only she could say something.  Some type of gesture. A look. Just anything so Michael would know how sorry she was, she would do it. But Thomas wouldn't shut his mouth, and continued to spill their business to someone he just met. Could he know Michael was her lover? Is that why he insisted on the Clairmont. Her stomach filled with gitters and nervousness swam around.  She was afraid she'd lost Michael or would lose him. His silence was cutting her like a knife. What was he thinking?  How was he feeling?  Finally, the car stopped and she wanted to break free. She felt like a prisioner left alone without a window to see any type of future. They sat in front of the penthouse and the doorman opened the door almost immediately. Thomas stepped out first; followed by Gigi then Michael.  Thomas gave the door man a large bill and they all proceeded through the doors inside the lobby.  Thomas leaned in close whispering in Giselle's ear as they rode the elevator, and Michael observed with patience feeling simply like a fool.

Thirty minutes passed and things hadn't gotten any easier for Gigi. Thomas talked his head off while she played the good, loving, and faithful wife.  Michael would barely look at her and Thomas being the business man he was,had ideas beyond for Michael and his band.

"So you see Michael. I can get you to the places you want to be with this strategy.  It will be hard work, but the big clubs is where you'll be really appreciated for your talent.  It will require  away time from that lovely woman you told me about." Thomas explained.

Michael exhaled uncrossing his legs, then he leaned forward. "You've given me a lot to think about.  The band would all have to agree if this is what we choose." Michael replied staring at Thomas hand caressing Gigi's thigh.

"Thomas.  I.." she paused to look at Michael. "It's late and you're probably keeping Michael from something important." She said nervously.

"Not at all, Giselle." Michael stared deathly at her. "I forgot.  My lady friend's husband is in town and three's a crowd.  Wouldn't you say so ,Thomas?" Michael asked sitting his empty glass on the coaster.

"I don't get your question." Thomas sat up in his chair. His eyebrows furrowed with confusion.

"Well... Let me see if I can explain myself." Michael retorted.

Giselle stood up feeling faint. She shook her head at Michael gesturing for him to stop. She held her hands up to her lips biting her fingers on her left hand. She was desperately praying as she stared at Michael.  Lost in her own feelings of guilt, she said a very faint cry of stop aloud stunning Thomas in the wake.

"Giselle.  What the hell is going on?" Thomas stood and Michael stood up in the same sequence staring at the woman in black who smelled of Chanel.

"What's going on?"Michael chuckled. "Should you or should I tell your husband that we've been lovers for months now?" Michael said without any regard.

"What the hell is this chump talking about?" Thomas shrieked in his stance twisting his fist tightly.

"Thomas, darling. Let me fix this. I can fix all of this." She wept.

"And I was fool enough to love you. I even was going to propose tonight. What a fool I've been." Michael scoffed pulling out a black ring box leaving it next to his empty glass.

""You've been having an Affair?" Thomas asked shaking his head.."Giselle answer me!!!" he yelped nearing her gripping her wrists.

"Thomas. I-I. Please just hear me out." she teared up shaking her head.

"Was it all a lie Gigi? Was he ever cruel to you? Did he have all these women you claimed him to have? Did he take your children away? Did you ever love me?" Michael asked desperate in his inquisitions.

"Wait one damn minute!!!" Thomas stammered. "You come in my house and throw out these accusations after I try and help your career. You lie on my wife and stand here like you have some damn ownership of a woman that's mine! You don't know who you're fucking with!" Thomas shouted.

" I mean no disrespect to you, your family not even to Gigi. But we've been in a relationship, or at least I thought. I met her on the train to Chicago. We became friendly, exchanged numbers and we've since then made love and fell in love. She painted an unhappy picture to me. A cheating ex who wanted to keep her depleted and under his wings.  A man vindictive enough to send her only two children away to boarding school. I'm a victim, too, but I will respect you, your wife, and your home by leaving. Thanks for the cocktail and thanks for the offer, but I have to decline." Michael said simply then prepared to leave.

Giselle was floored by Michael.  He stood his ground, told the truth and was a man about his passion. She still loved him and wanted badly to stop him from leaving ,but she stood frozen in tears.  Thomas followed behind Michael as he left, and when the door slammed she shivered hugging her body close. She didn't know what words to say. How can she come up with any after Michael's confession? Thomas entered the living area. He stared ,said nothing trying  to grasp a hold of what happened, but none of this made sense to him. He took a few steps forward without a sound. Giselle exhaled a deep sigh wiping her face."Thomas.  I don't know where to begin, but I never meant for any of this to get out of hand."

"Now you admit to having sex with this chump. How could you? "He said.

"I can lie or I can be honest."she took a deep breath. "It just happened and I couldn't stop. But I was going to end it as soon as tonight was over. Thomas you have to believe me. I was lost and lonely, and the kids being away... I was distraught." She exclaimed.

He chuckled. "I'm the liar and cheater and I sent the children away. Really?  You stand here  and lie when the man you've been laying up with revealed it all."

"Thomas. Please. I'm Sorry." she cried throwing herself in his chest. "I can't lose you. I can't." She sulked breathing out as she cried. "Thomas. Please!!! Forgive me!" she screamed as he pulled away from her without a word. She screeched out at the top of her lungs yelling his name then  fell on the floor curling up in a ball.

Days later Giselle lay alone in her penthouse.  Thomas left that night and had failed to return.  Michael hadn't returned any of her calls. He focused on his music and writing a new song.  Giselle sat there staring at the black ring box.  A very hefty diamond ring was inside. She was beyond flattered he wanted her that much, and if she could've said yes, she would've.  Thomas was always a meal ticket.  Yes he was good looking, but it was his money that kept her. The children wasn't part of the plan, but after his begging she gave in. Little did she know it would be two babies at once. There were many times she could've left, but her children had a life she never had. How can she take the good life away from them? She couldn't do that to them. But she needed to satisfy herself since Thomas had her and the children she gave him.  She had to quench her wants,so she took  lovers at random. Michael was more, though, she actually developed feelings for him. He had know way of knowing her feelings were true since he's avoiding her. The phone rung nearly making her jump out of her skin.  She wasn't expecting a call from anyone,so this was shocking.  She picked the reciever up slowly and placed it to her ear. She answered in a throaty voice and simply listened. After the call ended she  got out of bed, took out another one of her expensive skirt suits and took a shower. Thomas decided he wanted to work through her infidelity and had booked an emergency counseling secession. Since she had two hours to spare a visit to the  Clairmont would be her first stop.  If Michael wouldn't come to her she was coming to him.
