At the end of the lesson on a Friday before a Hogsmead weekend- Professor Sabra was attempting to keep the class focused.
“I’d think you all would be more focused considering your projects are due just after Halloween.”
Eyes whipped to the front, “Projects, professor?” Lily asked, in a tremulous voice.
“Oh dear me, didn’t I tell you?” With a smirk he flicked his wand toward the board and pairs of names began to appear along with topics such as hexes, poisons and counter-jinxes along with a lengthy grading rubric.
Lily and Sophie had been paired as DATDA partners since year 4. Karlee always went with Potter as a defense mechanism to keep Lily from having to, and because invariably the teacher would try and separate Black and Potter to temper any shenanigans.
But there it was, bold as anything. J. Potter-L. Evans, S. Black-S. Walker, K.Voss-R. Lupin. It was, to say the least, the Three Amigas worst nightmare.
Sophie was just now on speaking terms with Sirius after his attempted mutiny, and Lily and James hadn’t spoken 3 words to each other since “the incident.”
Karlee was secretly pleased but since everyone else was complaining felt it was only right to pretend to be indignant. In fact she usually did well in DATDA as James was top in the class, the only one anyone beat Lily in, and she was nervous to be paired with Lupin, who seemed determined to ignore her.
