CHAPTER 3

Chapter 3 (Gansey's POV)
My family and I huddled around our poor people tv to watch the Illea capital report, where they would be announcing the 25 suitors for Princess Blues selection. I didn't think i would be picked that would be so stupid, the selections stupid, the boys who actually want to be picked are stupid guy why do people care about this so much it's frivolous and dumb PEOPLE ARE DYING IN THIS COUNTRY FROM REBELS AND WERE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. 
"And lastly, Richard Campbell Gansey III. That concludes the list of suitors for her royal highness selection" the tv said. My whole family cheered and went crazy. Outwardly I rolled my eyes, but secretly I was giddy with excitement for a new adventur
Two days later I was packing up the last of the things I wanted to take with me .
"All ready!" I said with excitement, but the excitement was only from the loads of money I would get from being in the selection, not about meeting the princess ew no. I said my goodbyes and walked out the door to be met by hundreds of people waving and cheering, I even saw Cassia in the crowd to bid me farewell, but wait, no, she wasn't waving to me like everyone else, she was...she was... HUGGING ANOTHER MAN? And laughing with him? She never looked at anybody the way she was looking at him, except with me. On my special day, she would betray me?!! I filled with rage and audibly gasped. I was almost happy to be leaving so I wouldn't have to deal with my problems.

I sat on the plane next to a dark haired boy and a bald guy, wait no his hair was just closely shaved,with a dark expression on his face. The dark haired boy seemed nicer so I sat next to him.
"Hi I'm ky, 2, what's your name?" He said. His bright smile stretched across his face
"Gansey, 5"
"That's it?" He asked
"Yep, that's all there is" I get asked that question a lot.
"And what's your name?" Ky said hesitantly to the scary guy in the corner.
"Ronan" he said, but he said it in a way that sounded like he was already mad at them even though they had just met. "Your face is stupid" he said. It took me a minute to realize he was talking to me since I knew my face indeed was not stupid. Before I could respond the flight attendant came up to us
"We've arrived!" She said. I opened the window to see hundreds of people waving signs and yelling our names. I forgot that when you become a suitor, you're practically a celebrity.

When we were finally in the palace we all were in one room. All 24  suitors meeting for the first time. There were camera crews and bright lights. It was so loud, and rich looking I couldn't take it. Everything at once made me dizzy and claustrophobic, i had to get out of heeerrree. I ran out of the room and out into the foyer. I saw the doors to the gardens and made a run for it, tears started streaming down my face. I shouldn't have come to the palace, this was such a bad idea.
