CHAPTER 5

Chapter 5 (Blue's POV)

At breakfast the next morning I kept stealing glances at him. His face looked like glass on a hot day, a little wavy but pretty nonetheless.

"Blue, what are you doing?" My mother the queen asked me. I looked down at my plate. I accidentally wrote GANSEY in my syrup.

"Oh nothing!! Just thinking about that lump I found on the cat." I couldn't let her know that I liked Gansey! That would be so embarrassing, because she would think I was immature and foolish. I mean, he isn't even the prettiest of the boys, but he sure is pretty in my eyes. The prettiest. He was like the apple of my eye. I looked at him like a lion looks at its prey before it pounces... attentive and focused. Wait that sounds wrong. But I can't help it! I just want to swaddle him with duct tape and sneak him in my basement so he is completely dependent on me for meals... wait that sounds wrong too. I just want to hug him so tight he can't breathe!

I kind of forgot about the other boys. I know I'm in love with Gansey but I should probably talk to all of them.

"After breakfast I would like to talk to each one of you individually, in that room over there." They liked that! Some jumped up and shouted, "yay!" clapping wildly. Others laughed, AHAHAHAHAA! Others were angry. Gansey was one of them. But it's okay. I'll win him over yet!

The first boy I talked to was named Percy Jackson. He wouldn't shut up about water and the color blue. He's a definite no. Oh wait my name is Blue! Maybe I'll add him back in.

Next was Evan Hansen. He seemed too scared to talk to me. Nope!

I went through 13 boys before I got to Gansey. FINALLY! My twin flame...

"Hey Gansey," I said. He looked at me weirdly.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked.

"Like what?" I asked.

"Like I'm pain medication after you cut your finger opening canned tuna."

"Gansey, I have to admit something," I said. I couldn't believe it... I was going to confess my love to him right now. "My heart is aflame for you, like a house that is also aflame. You're as beautiful as something beautiful, and I can't handle it! I know you're in love with Cassia but it's okay. I have ways of getting rid... I mean helping you through your relationship problems. I'm here. I won't let you go."

"Oh Blue, I was in love with Cassia. What I never told you was that I saw her with another boy the day I left to come here. It broke my heart. I could see the betrayal in her eyes when I looked at her and she looked at me on that fateful day. But when I look into your eyes... they're like brown circles with brown dots in the center... but wait... they're not just brown... they have gold in them! Wow... that's impressive." Gansey looked at me so deeply I could have swum in his gaze, even though I'm not a good swimmer. But it's okay. He is my pool floatie in a deep pool.

Is he about to kiss me? OMG I think he is! He leaned in like how a bird leans into its baby right before it throws up into its mouth.

I couldn't stop thinking about the birds though, so I had to pull away. What if he wanted to play birds and he was the parent and I was the chick? I couldn't take that risk. I ran away crying.
