The morning came too quickly for Georgias liking, but alas, she was ready to go. Today should've been her first day at the library, but she had to send an email extremely last minute as to why she wouldn't be able to start for at least another week.

She wasn't giving up her dream of being paid to be surrounded by books, not even for a stupid beasty boy, his stupid curly locks or his stupid cute smile.

Her doorbell rang out loudly through the house. She'd be back here as soon as she figured out how to reject a Lupine. Which according to all the resources online and the old books she'd found last night as she searched for an answer, was not possible.

She trudged down the stairs in sweat pants and a 4 sizes too big hoodie, as slowly as she could, making no effort to rush.

Opening the front door, she was thrown off to not see Adrian. Instead there were two rough looking men, quite obviously of the werewolf variety standing before her.

"Adrian sent us to collect you and your things." One of the men said. He was very tall, with black hair and dark eyes, while his companion was a little shorter with blonde hair and green eyes.

"I'm sorry, who?" She said, feigning confusion so well, the men bought it. She was finally grateful for the summer of acting classes her parents had forced her to attend.

The shorter one turned to the one who spoke first. "Maybe we got the wrong house?"

"His scent is still here though." The other replied.

"Scent? What are you..." She made herself look frightened and unsure. "Look, I don't know who you are or who this Adrian person is, but I can tell you right now that I feel threatened and will not hesitate to call the police." She said with false emotion, allowing tears to well up as she hid more of herself behind the door.

"Oh, we're sorry for disturbing you ma'am, we have the wrong house. We'll be on our way." And with that they left.

Closing the door behind them, Georgia had to hold back a laugh. If she didn't they'd hear and come back. She looked at the clock.

I've been awake for two hours? Time for a well earned nap.

And with that, she went back up stairs.

_______

Adrian had sent his beta, Jay, and one of the pack warriors, Ethan, to collect his mate while he attended a tedious soul crushingly boring meeting of the Alphas that was hosted in the next territory.

The men had discussed the current issues with their teenage pack members not waiting for their mates, the increased number of abandoned pups because the humans they lay with can't handle them and never knew where to find the father's.

And then there were the rogues turning up dead at the edge of the surrounding territories, all with the same markings and symbols around them.

"Alpha Lupine, how are things in your pack?" The host, Alpha Leo, asked. An older fellow and proud father of 8 hellions known as children.

Adrian cleared his throat. "Things are well as usual, we've been very fortunate that our young members have chosen to wait for their mates. We haven't had any rogue bodies turn up so far either, but we have doubled patrol as recommended by the council just in case."

And just like that, his report was done.

This is boring. Let's go see mate.

Soon. She should be at the pack house now.

The males better leave her alone. Mate is too pretty for them. They ugly.

Adrian couldn't help but agree. His mate was very pretty. Actually, she was beautiful, exquisite and so much more. Long brown hair he'd love to run his fingers through, deep brown eyes that he would give anything to stare into. And a fire in her soul he would happily be burned by.

But she wasn't anywhere near the pack house like he thought. Instead, she was curled up in her bed eating a tub of ice cream she'd paid way too much to have ubered to her house and watching Unsolved Mysteries.

The meeting was soon adjourned, and he all but ran out of there as fast as he could, shifting and bolting back to his territory like the devil himself were after him.

Giddy as a pup, he shifted to his human form as soon as the pack house came into view, pulling on the sweatpants he had left there earlier for this purpose. Running his fingers through his hair in an attempt to neaten up for his mate, he rushed into the pack house, sniffing and looking for his mate.

He followed the bare trace to his beta.

His empty handed beta.

"Jay, where is she?" He asked all too calmly.

"We couldn't find her." Jay said. " We checked every house, no one knew what we were talking about."

Adrian rubbed his face tiredly. "I guess I'll have to do it myself."

Jay had a look of shame come over him. "I'm sorry, Alpha."

Adrian didn't say anything to him, just rushed off to go get his mate.

Soon enough he was knocking on her door impatiently, hoping she would hurry. She did not.

Again she moved as slowly as possible, taking her sweet time and hopefully infuriating him.

"Welcome to Mortensens crematorium, you kill em, we grill em. My name is Eight Ball." She greets him as she opens the door.

He rolls his eyes, moving past her to get her things. "I don't know how you got out of going with my men earlier, but we're going now."

It was her turn to roll her eyes.
