dream walked back into his apartment and shut the door behind him. he wondered to himself how he got lucky to have a pretty neighbor and how stupid he was to not get her number. after standing there in thought, he realized that he was still on call with george and sapnap. he walked over to his pc and put his headphones back on.
"sorry, guys. i had to do something really quick."
"dreammmm who where you talking to? i could hear you!" george teased.
"yeah dream, were you talking to a girl?" sapnap said.
"no, i wasn't, and i even if i was why does it matter anyways. you guys act like this is something super crazy."
"that is because you get zero bitches, bro."
"shut up."

lia woke up the next morning in her apartment, nearly forgetting she wasn't in texas anymore. she realized that she literally had no food at her house, so she got ready to go out to the grocery store. as she was showering, she thought back to last night. she thought that clay seemed pretty interesting, and she also thought he was really cute.
"fuck, not even one day in and i've already met a hot dude." she said to herself.
as she got out of the shower, she realized she hadn't called katie in a while. she immediately texted her.

lia answered katie's incoming facetime call to be met with a scream.
"BELLA WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN LOCA," she screamed.
"katie, i genuinely dont know if i can handle anymore of your dumbass references. plus i was literally just on the phone with you."
katie rolled her eyes.
"whatever just... shut up and tell me what it's like over there. i'm already excited for my visit."
lia laughed. "well... my apartment is pretty cute, i got it all decorated and shit. also, there's a mcdonalds down the street. that's literally it. i haven't replaced you with another person, katie." she said sarcastically.
"how's nimbus? can i talk to him?"
lia giggled. "yeah, lemme go find him." lia walked over to her cat sitting in the window sill.
"he loves it here. there's so much light for him to sunbathe in."
"aw, i miss him so much. i literally miss him more than you."
"yeah, miss you too katie."
"have there been any hot dudes?"
lia hesitated before answering.
"well, i wouldn't call him HOT, but-"
"OH MY GOD NO WAY," katie screamed.
"oh my gosh would you chill out. he's just some guy, he lives in the apartment next to me.
"you're literally so dumb, that's the universe telling y'all that you're meant to be. i'll give it 3 months before you guys start hooking up."
"KATIE WHAT-"
lia was cut off by katie hysterically laughing at her own joke, but she was having none of it.
"chill, lia, i was joking. how old is he, anyways? is he actually hot?"
"i don't know, he looked around the same age as me. probably in the same grade as me, maybe the one above. and he's not hot, but he's not really ugly either so..."
"i told you florida boys were hot."
lia huffed.
"i gotta go to the grocery store. i'll talk to you later."
"bye, don't do anything too crazy with your neighbor." katie said sarcastically.
"i literally hate you so much."

lia walked to the elevator at the end of the hallway and stepped in. she was on her phone when she noticed someone else stepped in. it was clay.
"hey lia!" he said brightly.
"hi, clay," she smiled.
"what have you been up to?" he asked. lia could tell he was desperately trying to make conversation with her, but she found herself wanting to talk to him just as much as he wanted to talk to her.
"nothing much, just unpacking and getting settled in, you know. how about you?"
"i'm pretty good actually, just about to go take my sister to starbucks because apparently i owe her some." he said annoyed.
lia laughed, finding herself not uncomfortable in the silence that sat between the two.
"you wouldn't happen to know where the nearest target is, would you? i have no idea where anything is around here." she said, trying to come up with something to say.
"oh yeah, the one on 3rd st. would probably be closest."
"thank you," she smiled.
"you know, you should let me show you around sometime." clay said suddenly. "well, if you wanted to, that is." he quickly added.
"i think that i would actually appreciate that alot." she grinned.
"do you think i could just get your number? so we could talk about it?" he excused.
"yeah sure, it's 123-456-7890. have fun getting your sister starbucks," she laughed as they walked out of the elevator.
"you too," he said.
lia looked at him confused, before he spoke up, "i mean, have fun at target." clay said embarrassed.
they both walked away. as clay got into his car, he realized how excited he was that he got her number. clay called sapnap on his phone.
"dude, guess what," clay said.
"what, bro. i'm in the middle of something right now." sapnap replied, audibly annoyed.
"i finally got her number," he said more excitedly than he wished to have let off.
"who, your new neighbor? the hot one?"
"i didn't say she was hot...but yeah, that one,"
"you literally said she was on the phone the other say."
"whatever, i just wanted to tell you, dude."
"well, congrats i guess. you gonna ask her out?"
"are you kidding? i only just met her. i'm not desperate."
"sure. i'll give it like three weeks till you guys start dating each other."
"shut up. she's literally just my neighbor. if anything, we'll just be friends. she could turn out to be some annoying bitch for all i know."
"damn, dude. or she could turn out to be your girlfriend and you guys end up getting married and having kids together."
"i'm hanging up now, you're annoying the hell out of me."

"KATIE," lia screamed into the phone when she was sure no one was around and she was safe in her car to vent. "HOT NEIGHBOR GUY JUST ASKED ME OUT!" she yelled.
"wait, WHAT? like asked you out asked you out?"
"i think so, i mean probably? i don't know! but he said that i should let him show me around the area, and i said okay and i gave him my number."
"NO WAY?!"
"YES WAY!"
katie and lia both screamed in excitement.
"GIRL THIS IS LITERALLY MEANT TO BE, i mean think about it, you guys live next door to each other. lia you found your soulmate."
"wait katie, what am i gonna do though? what the hell am i supposed to wear? is it like a romantic thing or is it just as friends? i'm freaking out already and we haven't even planned it yet. i need you here, move to florida soon," she said desperately.
"relax, just let me know when you guys figure out what's going on. it'll be fine."
"okay, i'm gonna go talk to you later."
lia hung up and sighed. she smiled to herself, and she was more happy than she realized about this outing with clay. she barely even knew him, why was she so excited?
