You guessed it [Y/N POV]
The loud sound of my alarm going off awoke me from a deep slumber. I rolled over and smashed the button on the top of the annoying machine. I pulled my feet over the side of the bed and rubbed my eyes. Walking over to my dresser I began to pull an outfit out of the separated drawers. I knew that it was going to be hot today so I decided on a pair of dark denim shorts, black and white striped shirt, and a t-shirt with The Neighborhood's logo on it. I wore the striped shirt under the t-shirt and tucked both of them into the shorts. Looping a dark belt through the loops on my pants and pulling my socks high, making my way downstairs.
I made my way into the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Not really caring about my hair I pulled it into a low messy bun. I did the rest of my business and made my way downstairs to the kitchen for breakfast. I noticed that nobody else was awake so I just threw a burrito in the microwave. Waiting for a while I heard the beep and pulled it out, quickly gobbling it down. I checked the time, 7:34. I had to be at school by 8 and it was about 15 minutes from my house. Waiting for a second and hearing no noise coming from the upstairs rooms of my house made me realize that I would have to take myself.
I quickly ran up to my room and grabbed my phone off the side table. I slowly made my way over to my desk where my skateboard sat, black mask, and headphones. Grabbing them all. I walked down to the living room, again, where I slid my backpack over my shoulders and made my way to the front door. I unlocked it and stepped outside, shutting the door behind me. I stood on my front porch, plugging my headphones into my phone. I turned on an old playlist one of my friends made and began to run. Putting my skateboard lower to the ground I hopped on and began my fast-paced ride to the new school.
As I got closer I saw more kids walking. I admired them as they grouped into their normal cliques and friend groups, with the occasional outlier. I decided that this year I wasn't going to be the 'social butterfly' I was at my last school, it'll be fun to be the quiet kid for once. Plus I don't want people finding out that I'm a gamer. That would be the death of me.
Eventually, I reached the threshold of teens as I hopped off my board, tucking it under my arm. I looked around before walking up the dirty white stairs to the dark wood open doors. Stepping inside my social anxiety skyrocketed, noticing a large number of people around me.
I only now realized that I didn't have my schedule so I walked over to the first person I was to ask for guidance. I had to decide between the football boys and the 'popular girls'. Judging from their looks, the popular girls looked mean, but I would take them any day over 'brads'. I walked over to them and tapped a bleach blonde on the shoulder. She turned her head around, her hair hitting me in the face. "Oh I'm so sorry", her friends giggled to her right. I rubbed my eye where she had hit, "Could you point me in the direction of the office?", I asked, grabbing onto the strap on my bag. "Oh- uh it's that way", she pointed down the hallway to the right. "My name's Brittany, by the way", she spoke, a smile spread across her face. "See you around I guess", I turned on my van-covered heels and made my way to the office.
Walking in I saw a boy with bright orange hair hunched on his phone in one of the chairs lining the side. He adorned a green shirt and had a grumpy-looking face. I walked over to the desk. Behind an old-looking computer sat a lady with dark black hair, her nails clicking on the keyboard. She looked up to me, her gold-lined glasses falling down on her nose. "New kid eh?", she asked with a smile. I nodded. "I'm gonna need your name kiddo", she spoke, reaching over to a filing cabinet. "(y/n-", I began to speak. "Got it right here", she smiled, handing a paper to me. She then handed me a (f/c) binder, "I like you, have this as a uh- first-day present", she chuckled. "Thank you mam", I smiled at her, walking out the door, "Have a nice day".
I looked at the binder once in the hallway and smiled. I looked at my new schedule admiring the classes. For the first period, I had math, the second was physics, third was coding. I was lucky that I had a free period for fourth with lunch immediately after. Fifth I had Economics, 6th was English, and finally was French as my 7th period. I slipped the paper into the back of my binder, memorizing my homeroom class number.
I looked at a clock on the wall and saw it was 8:03, knowing class started at 8:10 comforted me as I made my way toward the class with Queen blasting in my headphones. I noticed kids staring as I walked through the halls.
I opened the door to the classroom, it was mostly empty other than a couple of students. I walked to a seat in the back and sat down, far away from everyone else. I pulled out my phone and sent my friends a pic of my face.
Time flew and the teacher ended up being late to class. She didn't make me introduce myself but seemed cool. She told us that we weren't going to receive homework for a couple of weeks since she had no intention of being shitty. Her class passed quickly and she let us be on our phones for most of it.
The day passed and there was one girl in most of my classes, even study hall. I could tell that she was looking at me out of the corner of her eye. I pushed off the thought of this random person staring at me as I walked back to the room where I sat for study hall with my lunch. That same girl followed me and planted herself in the seat across from me. Her reddish-brown hair fell in front of her dark eyes. "Can I help you?", I asked, anger in my tone as I had to take out my headphones. "Are you a gamer, you look like you'd be one", she asked. My face went pale and she started to giggle. "I guess you are then, what do you play?"She stopped laughing and took a sip of her cherry coca-cola which was sitting on her lunch tray. "I play a lot of Minecraft I guess", I answered looking down slightly. "Oh, you would get along great with my boyfriend, he loves that game", I eased up as he spoke. "Thank god, he doesn't play fortnight right? cause I hate fornighters.", I deadpanned while taking a sip of iced tea that I had just bought. "Not that I know of", we both laughed.
"And who are you talking about cher?" I heard a high voice from behind me speak up. I immediately whipped my head around to see a boy, his spiky blue hair poking out from beneath a backward baseball cap. "BABE I WAS JUST TALKIN ABOUT YOU", the girl sprung up and latched herself onto him. "Bf this is uh- what's your name again?", she asked. "(Y/N)", I deadpanned. "BF this is my new friend (Y/N), (Y/N) this is my BF... BF", her tone was full of honey. As I eye them up I realized how colorful the two were. They were a match made in heaven. "Well are you two just gonna stand there or are you gonna sit", I crossed my arms, grabbing my drink for another sip.
"Why do you hate fortnighters so much", the bluenette asked while taking a bite of his burger. "They have anger issues and are bitches", I groaned out while setting down my drink. He began to laugh and we all talked until I decided I should head to my next class. Before I stood up GF asked, "so does this mean we're friends?". "Sure if you wanna be", I chuckled. "AWESOME, here's my number", she handed me a slip of paper before running off to the cafeteria, BF in tow. I walked to my next class.
