present time

Mary stood up, tempted to go and take a nap.

She did.

/////

After a couple of hours, she woke up.

Mary yawned and looked at the clock on the wall.

It's already 7:00 PM? I must have been sleeping for a long time.

Mary sighed.

"Life is so complicated..!" She whined.

Then, she noticed something out of the window.

"Hm?"

It was a full moon.

Since when Mary cared about stuff like that, she didn't know.

She walked up to the window and put her hand on it.

"I must say, it's pretty." she hummed

She sighed and stepped outside.

She couldn't see much, but the plants and grass around her had little white lines that came from the illumination that the moon gave them.

She looked up at the moon.

It looked so close yet so far at the same time.

Mary sat down on the grass, still looking up at the moon.

She let a breath escape her mouth and started rambling.

"Hey, (Y/N). You probably can't hear me, and I must look, and sound, insane, but I just wanted to ask you were? You're dead, which is what everybody keeps saying, but I was wondering if you were okay? Up above? Well, I can't exactly guess where you are, but I bet it's there.

"What even happens to people when they die? Do they get like a sheet of paper that says 'Congratulations! You died! You fulfilled your life duty!'? That'd be pretty nice. At least you'd get a prize for something..."

Mary paused.

"How.. how did you die, in the first place? I was never told."

She waited a couple seconds, as if expecting an answer, then sighed and stood up.

"When did you think that it'd be a good idea to talk to the freaking moon? That's not going to fix anything and you know it."

She kicked a rock aimlessly and opened the door to walk back inside.

But right before she did, Mary suddenly felt warm, like a blanket of warmth was being wrapped around her.

Though, that wasn't possible, since it was 5o celsius (41o fahrenheit) outside.

But still, it reminded her of (Y/N) somehow. As if they were telling her that they were okay.

She smiled and her eyes glossed over.

"Thank you, (Y/N). So much."

Loose tears escaped her eyes.

Then she cried.

Not like before: sad, depressing; but happy, thankful.

They were okay, and that was all Mary needed.
