"Here we are again"

Inches Apart

What caught my attention the most was the red head himself. It wasn't because of a certain reason but my eyes would trail him the whole time. I was extremely interested in his playing style though. He was so good at what he did, I'd say the team wouldn't be the same without him. I made eye contact with him quite a few times, and failed to play it off.

About an hour later the boys took a small break. They came over and grabbed a towel while I handed them each a bottle and when I finished I sat back down on the bench. Tendou was quick to sit beside me while the rest of the boys walked away.

"Did you need something Tendou?"

"Just call me Satori now okay?"

"...Okay, Satori... did you need something?"

"Nope! But did you see us practice? Isn't the team amazing?!" He smiled.

I smiled a bit because of how passionate he sounded talking about them.

"Yeah! You guys really are something amazing."

"Yeah they really are so awesome." He turned his head to look at the rest of the team.

"You are too you know? How you play out there is incredible." I said and he turned his head back to look at me again.

"You think so?"

"Of course. It wouldn't be the same if you weren't on the team." I gave him a smile.

I mean I wasn't lying. He was amazing at what he did, and I don't think the team would be as successful as they are without him.

"Thank you Y/n." He said in a soft tone.

    He had a smile on his face as if he'd accomplished something.

Time Skip~ After Practice

    The boys all changed and started heading home. You grabbed your bag and started to walk out too but you were quickly stopped by Satori.

"Yes Satori?"

"I-... Uhm do you wanna walk home together?"

"Sure, let's go." You smiled.

Something felt off about the tone in his voice. Like it wasn't as cheery and teasing as usual.

We started walking and it was quiet at first but I start to talk first to break the silence.

"...Are you okay?"

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"

"I don't know, you just seem a little bit quieter than usual."

He opened his mouth to start talking but hesitated at first.

"Thank you." he smiled a little.

"huh? For what?"

"Earlier, when you said the team wouldn't be the same without me. It made me fell like I played an important part."

"You do! If i'm being honest it was hard to even look away from you during practice."

"Oh really..?" And there he was again with his famous teases.

"Am I that irresistible? Hmmmmm?"

"Oh shut up." We both laughed.

"Did I ever thank you for helping me that night? At the party?"

"I think so, why?"

"Nothing... i'm kinda happy that stuff went down to be honest. I'm glad I met you."

"Me too."

Time Skip~ A few weeks later

Me and Tendou have hung out more and i've gotten closer with the team. Goshiki and Tendou were like my closest friends at this point. It was a Friday afternoon when I was out with Tendou, Goshiki, and Ushijima. We were all at a movie theater watching some new movie Goshiki talked about wanting to go see. I was sitting beside Tendou and Goshiki, and Ushijima was on the other side of Tendou. Goshiki and Ushijima were watching the movie and Tendou was whispering something stupid in my ear. I tried to hold in my laugh by coving my mouth. I looked at him with wide eyes as a playful sign to shut up. He grinned at me and I turned back to watch the movie. He kept looking at me though. I could feel his eyes on me but ignored it.

    A few minutes later I felt Tendou's fingers slowly start to intertwine with mine. I was surprised and confused at first. I looked over at him and we just looked into each other's eyes for what felt like forever, but was only seconds. I turned my attention back to the screen but I wasn't paying it my attention anymore. I was thinking about him. A smile crept on my face. I slightly tightened my grip on his hand as an okay to keep holding my hand.

Time Skip~ After the movie

"Bye Goshiki!!!! Bye Ushijima!!" I yell out to them as they started to walk away.

"BYE Y/N!!! THAT WAS FUN!!" Goshiki yelled back eagerly.

"Bye Y/n! Bye Tendou!" Ushijima called back.

    I looked over at Tendou.

"Before we leave... Can I take you somewhere?" he asked.

"Sure," and with that I followed him.

".... Hey Satori?"

"Yeah?"

"What was... that thing that happened while we were watching the movies? You know, the hand holding thing?"

    He paused for a moment. He tensed up.

"I-... Did I make you uncomfortable? I'm sorry... I knew I shouldn't have done that and-"

    I cut him off but grabbing his hand like earlier. He looked at our hands, then back up at me and smiled.

"So where are we going?"

"...It's a secret," he smiled even bigger and started to walk again.

    A few minutes later, we arrive to an opening in between some trees. It was around 11:45 pm, so it was quite dark but the stars lit up the sky.

"It's so pretty up here..." I say while my eyes are amazed by the sight above me.

"..Yeah, it is..."

    We sat down and started to talk. Talked about school, friends, the team, our home lives, and more. For a moment we were laughing but he stopped and looked at me smiling.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" I smiled at him.

"It's hard not too... you could grab anyone's attention looking that beautiful."

"Oh shush..." I laughed again.

"I'm serious... you're gorgeous."

"...You are too, you're so cute and handsome and adorable. Like I love your red hair and dark eyes. You're smile and voice. You're personality, because you're funny and considerate, adventurous, spontaneous. I love that about you...-"

    I could've kept going but I stopped at the sudden contact of his hand cupping my face. Only inches apart...
