Chapter 12

"Quartz," Levi called. "Quartz-"

"My name is Crystal," I mumbled before moaning and sitting up. I looked over to see Levi sitting on the bed, his back facing me. "Wha-"

"I didn't want to be accused of watching you sleep or whatever," he said, turning around. "Good morning."

I stretched. "Morning?" I said with a yawn.

He nodded, resting his cheek against his wrist. "You slept for a looong time. Teddy even woke up, and you didn't even flinch. I'll add the dirty diaper to your tab."

I rolled my eyes. "For someone who lives out in the woods-"

"I don't deal with babies," he said, standing up. "Let's go."

"Where?"

"Walk around?"

"Do we have to?" I asked, my brow wrinkling a little.

He rolled his eyes. "Yes, come on. You've been in bed for quite a long time. Let's go."

I sighed before gently shaking Teddy. I flinched when his eyes snapped open, and he sat up. "Goodness, don't do that," I whispered, holding a hand over my chest.

"Walk?!" he said, bouncing up and down.

Levi chuckled and nodded. "Yes, we're going for a walk."

Teddy cheered. He slid off the bed and began prancing around the room.

I stood up and stretched out my back. I gave a long sigh of relief when it cracked. "Ahh. Teddy, let's go." I held out my hand.

Teddy ran over and took it, his eyes sparkling.

"How did you get him to wait?"

"We went for a short walk around here, and after that, I said we had to wait until you woke up. He didn't like that and tried to wake you up," Levi said before sighing. "But in the end, it worked."

I smiled and placed a hand on Levi's shoulder. "Thank you. You've been going above and beyond what you needed to do."

Levi stared at me for a long moment before nodding. He cleared his throat.

"Are you okay?"

He nodded. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Let's just go."

I ran my fingers through my hair. I winced when my fingers hit a knot with a twig mixed in. "Can I shower first?" I asked, looking over.

He sighed. "Fine."

"Where's the shower? And does it work like in where I come from?"

After leading me to a shower, Levi left with Teddy.

Hallelujah, they had heated water. It felt amazing. It was nice and a bit disgusting as I watched the murky water from all the dirt. Especially with my curly hair, it took a little bit to get it somewhat under control and then washed.

When I finished, I dried it as best as possible before wrestling it into a bun and finding Levi and Teddy.

Levi gave a double take. "Is that a bun or a fuzzy ball on the back of your head?"

I folded my arms across my chest and sent him a look. "Hardy, har, har. Ready to go?"

"I was ready a bit ago. You took your time. And yes, I know that it takes longer for women because of her hair, but-"

"The water was warm," I said, grabbing Teddy's hand. "I was enjoying it."
