UNKNOWN

"How is he?" A voice asked. "He's doing fine. But it's only a matter of time before they find him. And he'll need to be ready for when they do." I answered. "But sir...how will you contact him?" The man asked. "You don't need to be worried about that. You leave the boy to me." I stated before going to leave. "And what will you do?" He asked. "Do what I have always done. Protect him with my life." I said before disappearing in a swirl of flames.

RYAN

I sat next to Illyana as my arm rested in a sling. "She said it was a clean break." I told her. "Where did the whip come from?" Illyana asked. "I don't know." I answered shaking my head. "Well...it's a miracle you didn't break your neck." She stated. I scoffed. "Such a shame. Reyes still has one more patient to deal with." I said getting up. "What really happened to you, Ryan?" She asked. I froze before dropping my head with a sigh. I turned around. "What I told you...about the men...wasn't true." I answered. "They didn't jump just me. They ambushed me...and my family." I added. "They were part of a rival clan. That wanted my grandfather dead...but my grandfather...wasn't a man that could easily be killed. He was a mutant...just like you and I." I explained taking step forward. "And a powerful one...Japan called him "Hellspawn." Became so popular that the Mortal Kombat character; Scorpion, was based off of him." I explained.

"Your grandfather was a mutant?" Illyana asked. "He was a skilled martial artist and deadly with a blade. He was a mutant ninja that was highly respected." I explained. "Why aren't you with him?" She asked. "When we were ambushed by the rival clan...my grandfather protected me with his life. Turning his enemies to ash with his power to control fire." I explained. "So...did acid really make you blind or was that a lie as well?" She asked. "No...acid didn't make me blind...my grandfather's hellfire did." I said quietly. "Your grandfather could summon hellfire?" Illyana whispered. "Yes. And he felt terrible about it." I voiced. "Your grandfather blinded you? And you're okay with that?" She asked. "Yeah. I am." I answered. "He used it to kill a member of the rival clan sneaking up behind me....guess I was too close to the beam." I explained with a sigh. "Did you really kill 9 men?" She inquired. I nodded my head. "Yes...I did. And it haunts me when I sleep...so I don't." I answered. "You don't sleep?" She asked. "Not as much as I'd like to." I answered. "When's the last time you had a good night's sleep?" She asked. I was silent for a moment. "The last time I had a good night's sleep...was when my parents were still alive." I answered before walking away.
