I stood in silence. My blindfold over my eyes. I was standing in the middle of a room. I felt the cool air crawling over my skin. I heard the constant drip of a leaky water pipe. "Mr. Kamado." A woman sounded. I tilted my head at the voice. "Come with me." She said before I felt a gentle grip on my hand. I felt myself being led somewhere. "Where are we going?" I asked. "Somewhere safe." She answered. "Not good enough." I pointed out. "You're going to have to trust me, Kamado." She stated. "It'll be a cold day in hell before I trust anyone again." I answered coldly. "I'm aware." She said before she let go of my hand. "What's with Kenshi?" A boy asked. "For the record...I take that as a compliment. Kenshi is one of the most badass characters in Mortal Kombat." I shot back turning my head to the right slightly towards the sound of the voice. "This is Ryan Kamado. Our newest patient." The woman voiced. "Careful." The same woman said before sitting me down.
I sat motionless listening to the stories of the other teenagers around me. One of them in particular...killed 18 men. By her accent...she was Russian. Her name was Illyana...it was such a beautiful name. "What about you New Guy?" Illyana asked. "You don't want to know." I answered. "Come on..." She pried. "Illyana. Respect their privacy." Dr. Reyes stated. "Why is he here?" Illyana asked her. "He doesn't have to--" Dr. Reyes started. "I was attacked." I answered. "I was jumped by 9 men. They...were drunk...predators...assholes. One of them worked in the nuclear plant." I explained. "I could tell because he smelled like radiation." I added. "What happened?" Illyana asked. "He threw acid into my eyes....and I lost my sight." I explained removing the blindfold from my eyes. "The amount of pain I went through sent me into a literal...blind...rage. And somehow...I killed them all. I don't know how. But I could only hear my heartbeat." I stated. "So...you don't know what your powers are?" Illyana asked. I shook my head. "Never got to see. They manifested after I became blind." I explained replacing my blindfold getting to my feet. "Now...if you'll excuse me. I'd like to be alone." I said. "Do you need some--" Dr. Reyes started. "No. I don't. I'm perfectly capable of finding my way back to the room." I interrupted before walking away.
