Flash Forward
"Mistress Malfoy has a guest with her in the parlour." The House Elf bows low.
"Really? Who?"
"Mr. Harry Potter, sir."
"What?"
As much as Draco had suspected them of doing this, he's still slightly shocked that he's actually caught them out."Sir? Shall I...?"
"No. You don't need to announce me, Gilly," Draco mutters. "I'll go greet them myself."
"As you wish, sir." The elf bows again, then Disapparates.
Draco pauses outside the parlour door, listening.
"So then Draco says, 'Teddy, if you don't go to sleep now, I'm taking away your broomstick for a week.'" Harry is biting back a laugh as he finishes the story. "And Teddy says, 'if you take away my broomstick, my grandmother will be hearing about this!'"
Draco smiles at the sound of his mother's laughter, then forces his face back into a scowl.
"I knew it!" He bursts into the room, startling them both. "I knew you were doing this—you—you lied to me!"
Harry at least has the decency to look guilty, but Draco's mother merely looks amused.
"Would you like to join us for tea, son?"
"No," Draco sputters, clutching the bouquet of flowers he'd brought for her, "I would not."
"I'd better get going anyway," Harry says awkwardly.
"We are not done talking about this!"
Harry's avoids Draco's eyes as he answers. "I'm sure, but it'll have to wait. I have to go, erm, study. Healer Exams, you know."
He heads through the Floo, and Draco rounds on his mother.
"Seriously, Mum?"
"We're friends!" Narcissa laughs. "Although, if you're really not going to date him, I might."
"Don't even joke about that," Draco hisses, flushing red.
She sobers immediately, standing up and setting a gentle hand on his arm. "I'm sorry. I just don't understand, darling. After all this time, why—?"
"It's...complicated," Draco sighs. "I don't want to talk about it anymore."
"Come here." She pulls him into a tight hug, and doesn't let him go for a long time.
