A familiar stranger
┏━━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━━┓The sound of the sturdy bristles brushing through the ends of her hair filled the room, her eyes intently watching each stroke through her bicolored streaks, analyzing for any stray out of order.
Despite her doing this very action consistently for nearly all of her life, it always felt like the first whenever she'd put in the effort to present herself, which lately has been more frequently with the added stress of a whole line of affairs waiting for your attention.
This was one of the few moments she had to focus on her and herself only, and lately it's been shrouded by the weight of fulfilling her family's duties whilst the other members of her household continue doing god knows what. Her anxiousness for perfection seeping through as she noticed a few fly-always in the refraction of the glistening sunlight, biting her lip as to not yell as if she wasn't alone.
Having endure weeks already of this new lifestyle has began to take its toll on the princess, Fuyumi never expecting for it to be such a time-consuming task, perhaps on that part she can give credit to her father.
'Hopefully he can actually cooperate,' She mentioned in annoyance at the topic of her father, quickly tidying up as to not waste time reminiscing on the many obscured memories. Her turquoise eyes staring back at her through the mirror, before finding their way down to the edges of her vanity, coming to contact with an old family picture residing on it.
A faint smile danced along her lips, before she promptly resumed her assigned tasks, making last touches before making her way towards the broad doors. With a deep breath, she swung it open gently, quickly treated by a familiar enthusiastic blonde.
"Ah! Your majesty, it's about time you're ready! It was getting tiresome trying to talk to this brute in the meantime," Yamada exclaimed openly, motioning a hand towards Onima who stood leaning against the brim of the doorway, the Kingsguard showing no interest in the other two excluding the one he's been ordered to protect.
One of the newly made rules since the disappearance of the prince, now every remaining member of the Todoroki clan must be occupied by a member of the Kingsguard, even at night one must be stationed outside of their chambers. Fuyumi found it annoying at first, but she eased up to it rather quickly after a few days.
"Nonsense, Yamada, he's just doing what's been told. Nevertheless, have you got any news for me?" Fuyumi asked, straightening her back as she bag an to walk down the lengthy hall, the blonde following in pursuit.
"Not really, except I think the merchant ships from Deika are a bit late by two days but most likely the weather." The official commented from beside her, his tone light and inviting as the other listened.
"Perhaps another typhoon, but if it exceeds a week then we'll start getting worried." Fuyumi stated in response, watching two servants now their heads towards her from the side. The woman then leaned towards him in disguised concern, "What of my father, has he been well?"
Yamada, being the worst in containing his expressions, had his warm smile turn grim and stale as he grew somewhat awkward at the surprising question. His golden eyes darting around making sure no one else was around, except for the Kingsguard stalking behind them.
"Aizawa was summoned to his quarters earlier today, as hand of the king he couldn't deny it but apparently it didn't go well as per usual. He's been increasingly less cooperative, if it weren't for you I'd fear he'd allow the city to go into chaos at this point." Yamada whispered back to her, getting flashbacks to the many previous meetings that were less productive and more so tiring lectures.
