One for All
┏━━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━━┓

Toshinori stood motionless within the emptiness of the vast throne room. His beloved has already decided to depart from him, in hopes to check on her son and console his worries. If only he could do the same, but his needs and wants are too conflicted for such leisure.

Mirai entered the room with the echoing of the grand doors, his padded shoes stepping across the floors with heavy and sharp thumps. His movements were laced with an aura of invincibility, strict and robotic as they made their way to a halt before their king. "I've already prepared the letter for Lady Bakugo, arrangements will follow shortly to dispatch the boy."

"I'd like to make a few corrections to that proposal," Toshinori responded calmly, eyes closing softly in thought as he swallowed down his own worries as a father.  "We should send Izuku with him, he'll be safer within the stronghold of Phaetonis. The symbol, and now this attack? It's only a matter of time before he makes an appearance."

"And what of Takara? You'd prioritize your son over the own security of your people unless eternity has its way they'll be plain collateral damage." Mirai's voice is raised in emotion, eyes going stern as he stares at the back of the King's head, who still refuses to make eye contact. "I understand you believe your son to be the one, but do not put your own spiritual needs above the oaths you have already sworn!"

The Chronicler's voice echoed in the emptiness of the room until silence enveloped the duo once more. Mirai clutched his jaw in annoyance and irritation, his intent on the grander picture this dilemma has caused.

"I do not require lectures from you, we've already settled Izuku will be my successor, he's the only candidate worthy and if that man gets his hands on him—" The king rushed speech came to a cold halt at the mere prospect his words gave. Finally, the blonde twisted his form so those sunken eyes can stare into that of his old friend's. "We can't take any chances, I've already sent men to patrol near the barrier until further notice."

"If he's on his way Takara won't stand, the only real fight your guards ever been in were mere squabbles and little quarrels amongst each other. All for One will decimate them in seconds," Mirai warned, his voice although wary was laced in an undertone of fear. "We should assemble the people into the main city, send word to the outer towns since you won't reach them in time."

"Finally this whole afternoon you speak sense," Toshinori joked with the either, who looked offended at the joke whether it be the context or the timing. "We should have time, the barrier has withstood everything since the moment it was made. It'll give us time I'm sure of it."

His words were hopeful, as they always have been, boastful with the king's confidence. "Speaking of—Your son, do you even believe he's ready? No offense, but I still believe he's not at your level. When you received it you could carry boulders, he can barely cast a simple spell—"

"He's still my son." Toshinori seethed, causing the other to spit out quick apologies for the insult. "I know he and I are different, but we all weren't exactly equal except for the one thing which bonded us together. A will, a will unforgiving to quit or back down when it comes to saving those who cannot save themselves. Izuku will inherit One for All, his genetics nor physicality matter when it goes against fate." The father declared sternly, each word he let out turning into stone.

Mirai cleared his throat, his gulp evident before he went to speak again. "But aren't you worried? All the previous users have been Pure-blood Cardinals, what if his Promissary side makes it so his body is unsustainable, One for All will break him!"

"Mirai, please, your childish excuses won't stop me from my decision. Izuku is the only candidate even if—" He paused, reaching up to rub his forehead tenderly as the stress began to show its presence. He felt the familiar bile building up at the back of his throat, taking a moment to cough into his sleeve, yet his friend was already handing him a napkin.
