The Search: Part 5

Get backup? It took a moment for Raelyn to realize Natalie was talking about Taylor, Cassie, and Amaya. Without a second to lose she rushed out of the alley to look for them. She found them close by and told them what had happened. They all hurried back to find that Natalie had knocked down two of the ninjas and was wrestling with the last one as she had lost hold of her katana.

The two other ninjas got up, Taylor took one down with a quick kick and Amaya took the other one out with a powerful sound wave. Natalie managed to get hold of the third ninja, she knocked his weapon away from him then pinned him against the wall for questioning. Taylor stepped up to him and took off his mask. They were all surprised to see it was Aiden.

"Aiden?" Raelyn gasped. "What are you doing here?" Her surprise quickly turned to anger. "After what you did, you're lucky I don't- don't...ugh...do something!"

Aiden laughed. "Nice to see you too sweetheart," he winked.

Natalie pushed him harder against the wall. "Answer the question bub. I don't feel like taking it easy on you so choose your words carefully."

"I'm guessing there's some history here?" Amaya questioned.

"Yeah, I'd say," Natalie grunted. "He's a filthy backstabber."

"It's a long story," Raelyn added. "Start talking Aiden."

"All I can tell you is that this is all part of a bigger picture that you Ninjnerds are too blind to see. But trust me you will." With that said he swung his head forward and hit it against Natalie's. Natalie stumbled backward, loosening her grip for only a moment but it was all he needed. He pulled free from her grasp, somersaulted over the rest of the Ninjnerds and disappeared down the street with the other ninja not far behind.

"He's getting away!" Natalie yelled. She swooped down and grabbed her katana and was about to chase after him.

"No Nat," Taylor said. "He is no use to us now."

"Taylor's right," Cassie said. "We should get back to the dojo."

"I'll go with you," Amaya said. "Sounds like you could use all the help you can get."

They returned to the dojo and went straight back to the room they had emerged from hours ago. A worried Karla peeked in to get some answers.

"What happened to you guys?" Karla asked. "You were here then you were gone. We got worried."

"We had a little run in with an old enemy," Taylor answered. "And now we have even more questions that need answers."

"You still haven't found Alex?" Karla frowned.

Raelyn shook her head. "Just this," she pulled out the piece of leather Nat had found. Karla took it from her. "It's a piece of his jacket. And this," she handed her the necklace from around her neck.

"Let's go over everything we know," Taylor said.

"We know Alex has been missing for a month at most," Cassie said.

"We know it has something to do with Aiden, which most likely means it has something to do with Void," Rae continued.

"And maybe this," Nat said from the corner of the room where she had been quietly standing. Everyone looked her way. She was holding a small black stun gun. "Aiden had it on him. I thought it might be a clue so I brought it with me." She handed it to Taylor.

"It looks like some pretty advanced tech. But what does this all mean?" He sighed as he placed the gun on the table in the middle of the room.

"And where did they take him and why?" Amaya added.

"I think I can help get some answers," Karla said, intently gazing at the necklace she had in her hand. "If I can connect to Alex through this maybe I can see his future and find out where he is. It's a long shot and it might not work, but we might have a chance."

"Can you really do it?" Rae asked. Karla nodded.

Karla held the leather in one hand and the necklace in the other. "Ok, just be very quiet. I have to concentrate." She closed her eyes. Everyone stood still holding their breath in anticipation. After a long moment she opened her eyes back up. "I know where he is," she said.
