The next morning, Caroline stopped by to hear the news and, of course, teach me about common sense. But I didn't really understand her at all. She talked to my soul to stay away from Max, but she also gave me lectures on forgiveness and forgetfulness.

"You know, when you get out of a wound, you should learn from it, move on, and not focus on the pain," she mused over a cup of coffee.

"Believe that I took the lesson from my heart," I snorted mockingly, but the pain simply could not be forgotten.

"But you didn't forget the pain," she glared at me, as if reading my mind.

"You can't do that," I said, looking away.

"But at least you have to try to forget about her and also put fear and guilt aside if you want to move on," she didn't give me peace of mind.

"What's all this supposed to mean?" I suddenly exploded. Surviving two wounds in such a short time was not easy, not forgetting them.

"I'm just afraid you'll be afraid to look for a new guy now," she assured me quickly.

"Then count on it!" I glared at her. "I already have relationships and guys too."

"That's exactly what I meant," she said with her hands.

"You are impossible! You don't expect me to throw myself into another man's arms now. "

"Not today, maybe in a week? And why not!?" she shrugged innocently.

"Give me peace with the whole male generation," I snapped, failing to mask my irritation.

"But you're stubborn," she shook her head.

"Better stubborn than vulgar. I will no longer bet on any guy, "I ended our debate and fell on the carpet with the children.

We just finished the tower when the bell rang. I didn't have a couple who it could be, but I didn't care.

"I'll open," Caroline offered, getting up from the couch.

"Thank you," I replied, continuing to play with the children.

"You what?" I heard my sister's surprised voice.

"Hello," came a voice I recognized immediately. Max stood in the doorway.

"I can't believe you were just walking around here," Caroline hissed. "If life was fair and the one up there would be a long time ago, the ball would have hit you directly into the balls during the first half."

Although I couldn't see Max's face, I could vividly imagine how he was probably trying now to keep his face serious.

I wasn't wrong.

"Is that still funny to you?" Caroline shouted at him.

"A little," he admitted, amused in his voice.

"I will not allow you to hurt her again. Kirsten has already experienced it - until. „

"I won't hurt him! I, Kirsten I love, "his voice hid no undertone, it sounded incredibly honest and even convincing.

I almost shed tears.

"And that's why you're pushing a bird into the other one?"

I realized I was gasping for breath and automatically covered Garrett's ears. Fortunately, the children did not pay any attention to the quarrel, but focused on lego. Before the quarrel went too far and Caroline Max scratched not only his eyes but also his ears, I quickly rose from the ground and walked to the door.

"I didn't sleep with Danielle," Max's voice grew serious. "I couldn't because I only thought of Kirsten all the time."

"What are you doing here!?" my voice trembled a little.
