Meera sat quivering on the chair in the washing gallery behind the kitchen.
Today was the day when the boy, her proposed groom chose to visit and man what a revelation it was! Meera could have never thought in even her daydreams during her college days, that her then crush would one day end up being her future husband in an arranged marriage and how...
Eshaan Poddar! Her suitable match was Eshaan Poddar. How and when did fates turn to her favour?
He was her one crush that always remained. That was never quite out of her system. yet, currently, he was not in the spotlight of her thoughts, as in before this great revelation moment, at least.
Meera had been hounding her family members for days now, to get details on the new match. But the family had learnt their lesson well and refused to disclose the boy's identity up until the last moment. They knew if Meera got a whiff, she would employ all her CBI level of stalking skills to pull dirt on her to-be in-laws' name and get the match cancelled.
How Meera had used every trick in the book to get someone to speak, but they were all united against her. she trusted Mukund to throw the most ineligible bachelor her way. In fact, not even bachelor, given his desperation to keep Meera out of her own apartment, he would even get her married to a divorcee, widower, or someone twice her age just as long as he can get her out of his hair.
Meera's biggest issue was with her parents, who were treating her as if she was adopted. Don't they realize what sort of a snake Mukund Jindal was?
For years they had trained her so brutally to be independent, to be well educated, work on her career and today they want her to throw all that in the holy fire and adopt the role of a submissive housewife there onwards?!!
Friends make a lot of plans of vandalizing a friend's wedding to rescue their bestie from the clutches of self-destructive marriage. (and for all single people out there of marriageable age, the concept of marriage is a synonym of destruction! Period.) but alas those are just plans. Frivolous bantering, no one never really works on actualising them. and Meera's friends were just the same. No one anymore offered to kidnap her or help her run away on the day of her marriage, now that the talks of her marriage were actually underway. SAD LIFE!
And finally, this idiot Eshaan! Didn't he have her number? At least he could have told her that he was coming as her prospective groom!
He knew. Meera was sure, Eshaan knew about this alliance. Because he was so calm and composed when they walked in today and saw her. and dare Meera say, he even looked really pleased. What's going on?
Meera had gone to the kitchen to prepare tea and snacks for everyone.
She looked shook; Eshaan laughed to himself. The girl may be a doctorate but in some respects she was still childlike.
Ever since they had arrived, while the elders were busy discussing various details regarding the marriage, the two of them had been looking at each other only.
Meera was glaring while Eshaan was admiring.
Meera had gained weight over the years. Not that she was ever skinny, but Eshaan thought she looked cute. Her fashion sense was very simple and classy. He doesn't know how, but in person, Meera looked quite pretty and actually looked a good 5 years younger than her actual age. Maybe that was just his opinion.
Eshaan looked around, he wanted to talk to Meera alone. He doesn't know yet, how he would justify not informing her beforehand, because Meera's expression was proof that the girl was clueless about the alliance up to this point.
Their fathers were discussing something about the marriage ceremony taking place in Mumbai. while dadi suggested conducting it at Besa haveli; their true ancestral house. Eshaan didn't have any issue with any of these locations.
