"Let her go!" Karma demanded.

He ignored her - and lifted me off the ground! I kicked and wrapped my hands around his wrist. This guy was that strong to pick up a person with only one hand. But that was not what frightened me and Karma. It was his eyes.

I could have sworn that the man's eyes were normal. It was not until Karma said something that I noticed the sudden change. His eyes did not look human anymore. They did not look like mine or my friend's. In fact, they creeped me out so much that I shut mine tight. No way was I looking at them.

"I said to let her go!" Karma screamed at the top of her lungs, jumping up and down. She always jumps up and down whenever someone - besides me - does not listen to her.

I can definitely understand her frustration, seeing that I come from a family of six siblings who never listen to me.

The creepy man ignored her once again and asked, "So where did you get it?"

"Where did I get what?" I managed to choke out.

"Stop!" Karma cried. "Stop it! You are going to kill her! You are choking her to death!"

"I am talking about the watch," the man rasped.

"You mean the watch...that I am wearing?"

"Yes. Where the heck did you get it?"

"It...was given to me."

"By who?"

"Do not tell him anything, Carmen," Karma said. "The watch is none of his business."

"That is where you are wrong," he said. "The watch is a part of my business because it belongs to me."

"The watch belongs to you?" I questioned.

"It does not," my friend protested. "You are just saying that to get your hands on the watch because you think that it is worth something."

I decided to open my eyes and saw a creepy grin on his face.

"Please...let go of me," I begged to the man. I could feel my muscles getting weaker, so I could no longer kick.

"Very well," he said. "But I will make sure that you and your friend do not escape."

He released my neck, and I dropped to the ground and groaned. I got on my hands and knees and checked my neck. I was catching my breath, and Karma hurried to my side and put a hand on my back.

"Carmen, are you okay?"

I nodded and looked up at her. "My neck just hurts."

She helped me to my feet and faced the man. "What in the world were you thinking?!"

His grin grew. "I was thinking that I could have what is rightfully mine." He held out an open hand. "Hand me my watch."

Karma pushed me. "Run, Carmen!"

So I did. I spun around and ran. Ran as fast as I could. I looked over my shoulder and spotted Karma. She was right behind me. Then I saw the man and realized that he was not chasing us. He was not moving. He was just as still as a statue and watching us.

At first, I was thrilled that he was not following us. But then I thought...why was this guy not chasing us? Why was he not giving us the time of day? Does it mean that he has something up his sleeve?

All my questions were answered when my friend and I bumped into something. Er, nothing. Well, something was definitely in front of us. We just could not see it.

"Ow," Karma said as she rubbed her nose. "My nose. It had better not be broken."

I put my hands on what we hit. "Seems like that we ran into an invisible wall," I said.

She tilted her head to the side. "Why would there be an invisible wall in the middle of the road?"

"The invisible wall is in the road because I set it there."

We spun around and spotted the man. His hands were in the pockets of his pants, and he was walking to us.

"Leave us alone!" I yelled. "Do not make us hurt you!"

He stopped and tossed his head back and laughed. His laughs echoed throughout the city.

"You girls are nothing but bad puns," he stated, forcing his laughter to die down. "I am immortal, and you girls are just powerless humans."

My friend and I looked at each other, and then back at him.

"You are out of your flippin' mind," Karma told him.

The creepy man hid his hands behind his back. "What makes you say that?"

She pointed at him. "You cannot be immortal. It is not possible for a human to be immortal."

"Who says that I am a human?"

I took a step forward. "What do you mean that you are not a human? You look human."

He tsk-tsked. "And I thought that my black eyes would be a dead giveaway." He shrugged. "Guess that the two of you girls are stupider than I realized." He rubbed his hands together. "That will make my job easier."

I covered my watch using my hand. "You mean getting my watch? Why do you even want my watch?"

"That watch is the key into destroying the world, which is what I will be doing."

I frowned and shook my head. "Then you will never get your hands on my watch."

"I am afraid that you do not have a choice."

My best friend hugged me as the man began to change. Change from a human being to a frightening monster. I could not believe my eyes!

The man grew and grew until he was huge! Karma and I were ants compared to him. He was a giant prepared to crush the city. His skin changed from pale to purple, and his legs were replaced by a tail. He now resembled a ghost. But he was not a ghost.

"I am Eposis!" he announced. "Bow before your future king! Or else!"
